She shouldn't chip in

Only in America "college education" is considered "parents responsibility".

It shouldn't be, and it isn't.

I'm not saying parents shouldn't help out (assuming kid is responsible etc)......

She makes almost $100k a year and wont even help me cover my 2.5k/semester tuition. Sorry but come the fuck on, not like im asking for 10k+ or anything

Unbelievable meeting. Company is telling how important we are, how we need to do much more. Oh, we aren't going to help, expect less help.

This is why people kill others in America.

Sounds like my company as well, do they also mail out quarterly reports on the record sales/profits the company is making?

Who paid for her college? I worked my ass off to pay for law school and keep my 2 kids in private school. Never asked my parents for a dime and never even considered it. Maybe she thinks its learning responsibility.

Besides a product? It sounds strange to many, but having a chance to do good by looking at others as people instead of dollars. If one is treated well the dollars follow. Do what's right.

Why should our labors be a small part of our lives? All effort made in the world is a form of work. And unless we craft a different inner life and in a schizophrenic way segregate the modes of our interaction with the world, all effort defines some part of us.

Her parents have paid for a lot of shit in her life, her past 2 cars are more or less her parents, her college was paid for at first, but she decided to get married and after that they stopped paying for her college.

I am working now to save up to hopefully pay for it myself.

Let me guess, no pay raise or very little if any? Plus pay more for your health insurance and other benefits? Cut back or eliminate company's goodies such as picnic, Christmas party, etc? :'(

You are 18 and an adult that should be able to take care of yourself. EVen if the made MILLIONS, it's NOT her responsibility and NONE of your business (it's HER money). Be thankful she raised you and gave you roof over your head/provided food!!!

You are on your own and need to provide for YOURSELF. I think what you mother is doing is very good for you. In 10 years time you will understand.

NOTHING that's simply handed over/given to even the BEST of people can EVER be appreciated.

Meanwhile, you will take your studies/school MUCH more seriously as you know that it's YOUR money and future that's on the line. If it was your moms.....you simply wouldn't care as much, after all, you didn't work for that money and WILL not work for it.

Hope that helps.

PS. I'm actually happy to see this sort of thing this day and age. I applaud your mother!!!

Not quite the way I would have said it, but I agree.

You'll understand this. If I know what is good I must not fail to do it. If we're compelled by mandates to do so in ways that cannot be accommodated while removing critical tools it interferes with my personal imperative. For me my job is a means to an end, and if so someone in health care cannot do good, what is his value?

You applaud a mother who hasn't bought me groceries since i was 14 because I was "old enough to fend for myself", I can't take my studies seriously because currently 75% of my income goes towards buying my own food and making sure I can get to my job(s).

The same woman who kicked out my brother when he turned 18 because he wasn't actively working.

If you think she "provided for me" about the only thing she did was make sure I didn't die, next to that she couldnt give a shit, we live in the same house and I haven't spoken to her in over a week.

She is not really a good parent at all, she never really did more than make sure i was physically OKAY. She didn't "raise" me, I understand where she was though, a single mother raising two kids is difficult work, but I dont really consider her a good parent by any means. She used(uses) her parents for their cash because they are doing fairly well for themselves, then she buys stupid shit for herself, she goes on minivacations every other weekend, never once been invited tho

Basically, shut the fuck up because you honestly have no idea how i was "raised' or what happened or didn't happen xD

Also, im not 18

yup, 20 in a couple months.

BTW, i never once expected her to pay for my school, however, she could afford to help out, but she doesnt, period. I would never want her to pay for all of my school.

Oh, she also "owes" me about $2,000 as I covered 1/2 a months mortgage and bought her a plane ticket that was never repaid...but meh whatever

Start writing an epic "fuck you" speech now for when you leave.

I'm gathering material for a book and my profession will figure prominently in my assessment in what is practically wrong with health care from a functional perspective. I think that's tantamount to your suggestion.

Seems like she doesn't have all the money that you think she does if you are covering the mortgage at times.
