Is there is a way to kill the like alerts, is this a tech forum or Facebook ?

I'm not against the idea of likes, maybe just default it to not send the alerts, and maybe make it not show who liked what, just show how many likes it got. Actually a upvote/downvote system could be interesting, don't make it alter the actual ranking of the posts or otherwise affect anything, it would just be a number that shows up somewhere.
I'd like to be first, thanks. LIKE MY POSTS, I NEED VALIDATION
I'd like to see the likes limited to the tech forums. A like in a hardware forum is very different from a like in Off Topic or P&N.
Edit: Here's a good example of why:
The argument wee got for including "likes" was "Well, the kids like them, so they stay."
Then TridenT posts, proving exactly why "likes" are worthless

Please expand the likes to include funny, winner, sucks, etc.
This place has been stuck in the stone ages since Anand founded it. This IS a tech forum and I dunno what rock you guys have been under but tech changes daily.
Now if you want to argue about how bad the wild card in baseball is I'll jump on board
The Wildcard sucks...but honestly I think it's OK considering the expansion of the league. It is still a rather limited number of good teams that make it to the playoffs (though, didn't they increase the number again, with that preposterous one-game playoff bullshit?). It's no NBA, that's for sure.
Now the DH--the DH is an abomination and should be banished to hell forevermore. The DH is worse than Al Qaeda.
But you know what is worse than the DH?
Like buttons, that is what.
....do you think we could maybe trade in our "likes" for AA coins or something like that? I figure 50 likes should be good for a 15 day coin, right?
See I'm a traditionalist typically and don't like inter league play or the wild card even if the Yankees use it to their advantage. It just dilutes competition. I know it has drawn in lots of new fans and kept some old ones and 162 games is grueling and to loose out at the end by a game or two sucks.
But for the forums it's hard for me to comment on Facebook cause I don't have an account. I just like how modern Xeno is. I like the way likes work and I'd like them even more if they install the mod that expands upon them.
I guess it can be a total PITA for some who post a ton having to sort through all the alerts, but for me not being a huge poster on this site with tons of forums and tons more of users I get lost some times.
interleague play is necessary so long as the leagues each have an odd number of teams, otherwise you'll have 1 team in each league sitting around all the time. and it's better than the other solutions of the leagues having different number of teams or expansion/contraction.I hear ya with interleague play--this serves no purpose whatsoever, save for the handful of cities/regions (3?) that have legit cross-town rivals. But, you know, who hasn't wanted to see those wonderful rival matchups between the Mariners and the Phillies!?
...I see you made no mention of the DH. I assume that as a traditionalist, you agree that this is an abomination, correct?
