I deleted all the info because those that were saying July recently changed thier tune to Q4.

Sadly I think this will be a disaster for AMD. They had better hope in Q4 they deliver a hell of a CPU. Better be a Penryn killer now.

Unfortunately because of this poor timing I will be aquiring Quad Intel chips around the July price drop not the cheap ones either. I cant wait till Sept. Sorry AMD I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt but I cant afford to hold out any longer for your chips. Its just buisness and timing is everything.

I suggest you start showing some real world numbers to generate renewed interest in K10 even if you have to LN the cooling to produce some 2.6ghz results that are real not simulated.

BTW I work for various DOW 5-50 corporations for the person who inquired. AMD has met me before with IBM in tow when the opteron was first launched.

Best of luck.

What a laugh.

- No AMD demo at Computex
- Motherboard manufacturers testing 2.3 GHz parts
- Cray saying quad-core has been delayed

Sure, it's coming in July.

Do you have a link to that July release or you just talking crap?

Right now I will take any bets. We see Penryn server parts before we see K10 parts.

Will this be enough or do you need more?

An industry source has confirmed that K10, Barcelona CPU will start shipping in late July. It will ship with the leading servers and it will be called Opteron 2200 series.

The CPU is sampled, up and running at the press time and we?ve seen it. The server CPU comes first and it will be followed by the end of Q3 by Phenom FX a 1207+ socket based high end desktop chip.

There will be more about Barcelona, stay tuned, as the CPU is real and it is showcased at the show.

We finally had the chance to see Barcelona K10, Opteron 2200 series in action. We saw two machines both up and running and we have quite a few nice screenshots. One of the two had two processors or eight cores.

The one server model we?ve seen works at 1.61 GHz and get recognised as AMD processor model unknown but you can clearly see the four cores. So there you go you malicious Swedish boys and there will be more of these.

AMD K10 to begin shipping in July 2007

Rumor on the street is that the AMD K10 to begin shipping in July 2007. This is the reasoning behind the recent price drops on AMD's server line. The K10 will mainly be sold to the server groups. The Phenom (Desktop) series is expected to arrive in September time frame.

K10 is NOT coming in July.

At Computex they said mobo manufacturers are just now locking down their design - and just starting to work on drivers etc.

No way that get sorted and shipped in 8 weeks. Anand's article mentioned a possible new silicon rev before production. Assuming it's good, they'd have to then ramp up and start creating stock. K10 is months away, not weeks.

The newer silicon revs are to try an increase the clock speeds in the mean time existing working silicon will be shipped. It doesnt clock as high as they would like but its working silicon.

AMD to offer IT a taste of 'Barcelona'
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardwa...000091,39287363,00.htm

At Computex on Tuesday, the company plans to demonstrate three servers running Barcelona, a quad-core server processor. Three system builders ? Supermicro, Tyan and Uniwide ? will be running servers using Barcelona in a variety of configurations, said Steve Demski, Opteron product manager.

Barcelona is expected to help end the skid as AMD's first quad-core product. Servers with the chip are expected in the third quarter., while a desktop version will arrive later in the year.

try "September" ... that is the earliest reasonable estimate for a competitive chip with decent yields

Fudzilla is publishing the "wishful thinking" of the fans ... something to keep hope alive for the faithful

July may bring Hd2900xtX ... that's about all from AMD ...
it doesn't really matter ... as long as it is before October

Yup never said the Intel killer was coming in July only that the first K10's will be arriving all the prints say that and that the Phenom CPU everyone will be waiting for will be in September.

I think a lot of people in here are taking it out of context and not reading what its saying. The K10 for servers will be out in July probably not clocked as high or in qty as everyone would like but its coming out.

It has to with Intel doing price drops in July thats a clear indication Intel knows that Barcelona is coming in July. They dont have to cut prices if its not coming until September.

I think you have it reversed. The Intel price cuts were rumored a few months past while the alleged K10 launch was mentioned this week. It seems given this timeline that it's more likely that AMD is sending out a few non optimized chips to try and steal Intel's thunder rather than the other way around.

Besides you and Fudzilla, do you have any credible links saying Barcelona will be out in July?

Yeah, okay. Intel is dropping their consumer uniprocessor prices in anticipation of AMD's server product, Barcelona. Meanwhile, Agena/Agena FX won't arrive until Christmas according to AMD. That makes a ton of sense.

Or could it be that Intel placing new products into the spotlight, such as QX6800 and QX6850? Not to mention 45nm Yorkfield in Q4.

Guess this sentence slipped by unread........in AT's review of the "new" AMD X2 BE-2350 cpu.....

If reports out of Taiwan are to be believed, initial performance results from AMD's Barcelona fail to impress and we've got at least a quarter before the race can even potentially get competitive.

Initial performance results of Barcelona fail to impress?

At least a quarter before the race can be competitive?

Sounds like July is a loooong way off......maybe July '08.

Dailytech article with very "informal" Cinebench benchmark run on 1.6GHz Barcelona system at Computex http://www.dailytech.com/Quick...ebench/article7574.htm

Quote from article regarding launch date:
AMD's current guidance suggests a late July announcement for Barcelona. However, when DailyTech tracked down the individual partners named in AMD's press release, all cited "optimistic September" ship dates for motherboards.
