Back when i was (Linux) distro-hopping (trying out different distros) I used a USB drive for the installs.
but to change to a different distro i had to use Win8.1 and diskpart to reclaim/reformat the space.
what happens is after doing this maybe 4 to 6 times the USB drive becomes unusable. Windows will repartition it and format it but no drive letter is assigned. The drive is visible in Windows Disk Management but will not assign a drive letter.
I forget the exact error message i get. I tried 3rd party programs that seemed to fix it but still not visible from windows. So are the drives toast?
