Remember the woman killed by two vicious dogs in San Francisco a few months ago? Her partner has filed suit against the owners for her wrongful death. Apparently one of the dogs had previously bitten the victim, which normally creates strict liability on the part of the owner for any injury caused by subsequent attacks (the so-called "one bite" rule).
The owners in this case are a bizarre pair of lawyers who had adopted an adult convict, on whose behalf they apparently bought the dogs, both of which were a rare breed of attack dog, Presa-Canaario. Shortly after the attack they sent a letter to the San Francisco District Attorney in which they implied the victim was responsible for the attack, even going as far as to speculate that since she was an athlete (she was a college lacrosse coach), that she might have been on steroids, thus causing the dogs to bite her.
I say to hell with them, and I hope they lose every penny they own.
