I was studying a Duracell NiMH deal at MCM Electronics.

They have 1800mah AA for $0.89 each and 750mah AAA at $0.79 each. From people who had ordered, the shipping is almost as cheap as this BYDUSA deal.

They have free shipping for orders over $50, and there is a coupon "10% off any order of $100.00+" somewhere in their website.

What do you guys think ?

The price looks great. I just checked them out at resellerratings.com and some people like them a lot and some hate them. Of 8 or so reviews over the last 2 years, at least two (one in the last month) complained that they were charged excessive shipping and that the online ordering system doesn't inform the buyer of the shipping costs. Looks kinda iffy.

I ordered the AAs a while ago. These batteries last forever in my Canon A40. Thanks for the deal! Now I just need about 6-8 AAA.

I got my second order from BYD on Friday. Applied they coupon (5%) they gave me with my first order and it basically paid for the shipping upgrade. Got my batteries and charger in 3 days w/ UPS 3day.

BYD is great.

You guys who are into the AA 1800mah: Why don't you order fro MCM Electronics? Their resellerratings.com reviews aren't good, and they can overcharge for shipping (unannounced when you order), but the price seems fantastic at .89 each for Duracells (.84 each for 10 or more). I don't know that I'd order RAM or a MB from them, but it's hard to imagine them screwing up an order for AA's. Has anyone ordered from them?

Just received my order of 12 AAA Duracell and 16 AA Duracell NIMH batteries from MCM. Subtotal 22.44 - Shipping 9.62 for a total of 32.06. You don't know what the shipping charges are until after they ship - not good business practices IMO.

There's no arguing with that. They must be screwy. They undoubtedly take continual flack for that. Still, the price for 1800 mah AAs (Duracell, which I figure is probably better than the generic looking stuff at BYD) is relatively great. Even with $9.62 shipping a dozen batteries comes out to about the same as free shipping of a dozen from BYD. I think I'll order a dozen AA's from MCM and 10 tabbed C's from BYD. It's kind of a dozen here, a dozen there, but in this nutty world it still looks sensible.

Okay battery experts! What's the difference between NiMH and NiCd batteries? When I've searched various shopping sites for NiCd, it comes up with NiMH batteries. I've also seen battery chargers that state they charge NiMH or NiCd batteries. My battery charger states that it takes NiCd batteries, so will it also accept the NiMH batterioes in this deal?

lookin4dlz - The NiCad charger you have was not designed to charge NiMH batteries, the newer models usually will charge both if they have both listed. You will want to have a newer "smart chip" charger that will discharge (condition) and charge both types of batteries, and shut off, or better yet, trickle charge when reaching full charge. nickel-cadium and nickel-metal-hydride are different chemistries, so charging technology was adapted to accommodate both with the new chargers. If you want the BEST charger for the price, you will find it right here: SmartCharger
