Killing Floor - Great Game, some bugs

Anyone else pick up Killing Floor for 5 bucks over the holiday? The game rocks and is a ton of fun, but has a few bugs. I wanted to know if anyone else is playing it and has had issues with their mic. My system is Windows 7 64 bit and I use a Plantronics USB Headset with Mic.

My mic works fine everywhere but KF. It 'registers' in KF (I can see the meter bounce up and down when I talk) but does not send the voice signal. Does anyone else have an idea what is going on?

What I've done:

* I've gone into my recorder settings and disabled all recording devices except my headset mic.
* I've verified I can hear myself in windows (by going into properties and checking the 'listen to mic' button and have it play through my speakers.
* I've made sure the mic is not muted and the volume is at 80 or higher out of 100 on the slider scale.
* I've used my mic successfully in other programs.


What I don't think it is:
I do not believe it is the router or firewall because I have two other roommates in the house who play KF and can speak fine and do not have any specific router or firewall settings.


Also:
Anyone know the best way to find and kill stalkers? Leveling up a commando is a pain.

Yeah i got it for $5.

I didn't think it was worth the $15 they wanted on the previous free wknd i'd played it, but for $5, even though i won't play it much, it might be worth it.

I payed 20 for it when it first came out and it is totally worth it. I have put at least 4 times the hours into this than I ever did L4D.

Is your mic boosted? try that out, it might be doing voice just very quiet.

Also, yes leveling the commando sucks, I hope they fix that, cause it is just stupid.

My friend got me into it, he leveled his commando to level 6. I like the firebug\pyro, even though no one else does.

stalkers are easy enough to find if you turn your brightness up, they have a clear outline even if you arent a commando. as for the mic issues, i dont use ingame talk i usually play with friends in vent.

i honestly like this game more than l4d2, the survival mode is way better.

I can't get this game to launch. Every time I launch the the game, my monitor goes black and it says it is unable to display at 1920x1200, then just stays black after that. I did not see any solutions elsewhere, so wondering if anyone could help.

try editing one of your .ini files that houses the resolution. set it to 800x600 and launch the game. then reset to a new resolution in the game.

Thanks, got it working. Not sure I really like the game though. I'm thinking I need to try out the single player to see if I can better feel for how things work before I try multiplayer again.

It's a pretty fun game. I'd pay 10 bucks for it..as opposed to 0 dollars to L4D.

It is good fun in small doses..along with League of Legends..

Thanks to KT for the guest pass and I got to play it for a couple days. I really enjoyed it. You can upgrade your stats to get better stats and focus on different types of gameplay which adds decent replay value. You can also buy different weapons while playing which is good and helps add something that L4D doesn't have. You can really tell though how low budget it is cus it's not a good looking game and has lots of glitches. I don't think it's worth $20 and now I wish I'd got it at the discount price as it'd be fun for short romps. Tops I'd pay for it would be $10.

So far my group has played KF for 4 sessions of 2 hours each, but we use Vent so I can't comment on the mic issues. It's been pretty fun and we've been able to turn the difficulty up a bit as everybody got comfortable with their weapons of choice.

I wouldn't say it is either better or worse than LFD, just different. I recommend it whole heartedly if you play with a static group.

i played it at a friends house, i cant see how poeple can even compare it to L4D, L4D is a polished game, KF not even close to polished, too many little bugs/glitches. And the graphics are sad, i mean L4d graphics arnt good but KF is just bad.

Yea but L4D is boring as hell as KF will get boring too but charges you a hell of a lot for it twice over. Graphics don't make any game at all. It does many things better than L4D games as L4D does things better than it as well.

Anyone still play this and want to play together? Most of my friends prefer BC2 and L4D :[

I'm finally starting to get the hang of the game and understand wtf is going on, but there are still so many billion maps to learn (Crossbow headshots are all you need!)

The mic sucks in Killing Floor...it's hard to hear as opposed to games like L4D2. Same with GTA IV.

KF has much more replayability than l4d, I said it earlier in this thread, I have gotten countless hours outta this game.

I got a couple outta l4d with the short ass campaigns then a few more hours of monotony from the multiplayer, which is really just playing the same damn thing over and over again anyways

I had a glitch where my perks wouldn't level.

After looking it up, sources suggested it was due to me playing single player mode (I was just trying to make sure the graphical settings were fine before jumping into multiplayer). Sources suggested creating a server, then quitting. I tried that, didn't work.

In the end, I had to delete all the local content and redownload the damn game, which was a pain.

I picked it up too. I played it on the free weekender with a friend and enjoyed it, but always said I'd only pick it up if it was less than £5.

One feature gets on my nerves often though...if the clip of your gun empties and you click again to fire, it automatically reloads. There's no reload cancel in this game so it can get you into trouble. This has been raised by the fans ages ago and afaik hasn't been resolved.
