Perhaps the devs believe that is a strong feature of the game.

Watch your ammo. If you're about out, switch. That takes more skill than just going "oh shit, im out of ammo and forgot to switch, please let me switch now"

I picked it up too. I played it on the free weekender with a friend and enjoyed it, but always said I'd only pick it up if it was less than £5.

One feature gets on my nerves often though...if the clip of your gun empties and you click again to fire, it automatically reloads. There's no reload cancel in this game so it can get you into trouble. This has been raised by the fans ages ago and afaik hasn't been resolved.

Added you two

My steam is either kgwang or Flowerbridge

BTW, I have one or two guest passes for Killing Floor that last until the end of this month.

If anyone is interested in checking out the game (look at the gameplay videos, it plays just like that. the graphics arent that great for a "modern" game, but again, it's not a high budge blockbuster like MW2), let me know

the headshots and slow mo alone make this game worth it.
The headshots in this game do seem very satisfying. Unfortunately there are a lot of balance problems, such as a crossbow being able to one shot a FB on 6 player suicidal or the m14 just having way to much ammo.

Ever since CSS went to the crap OJ engine, this and Diablo II has been our game of choice until they decide to add directinput to the OJ engine and fix some of the gamebreaking bugs.

This is a game that is a lot more fun when you play with people you know over some VOIP program.

Awful game. I bought it at release for $30. Played it for 10 minutes, and uninstalled. Never re-installed or played it again. Just couldn't get over the visuals, or lack thereof. Gameplay seemed empty as well.

It's not for everyone and if you always put graphics before gameplay that's sad and it has much more re-playability than L4D.

Never got the urge to buy L4D or L4D2 but killing floor was the perfect alternative. The game is great for the fact that it's actually challenging and the weapons are fun to use.

If you wander to far from your group chance's are you're going to die even though you have complete freedom. If you don't have the right weapons for the right guys you'll die. If you don't keep an eye on your health you'll die. You can weld doors shut to channel your enemies. Your character advance's are actually noticeable and there's just plain plenty to keep you paying attention.

I think the real reason killing floor is unique is that it puts accuracy over mindless blasting which is not like a typical zombie shooter. The bigger guys or hordes of small creatures do take some mindless blasting but I think there's a good balance in the way they force you to be conservative with your shots. Dual hand guns, creepy lighting (iirc some levels have pitch black areas, for instance, a four or five story stairwell with no lighting).

It's a lot of fun for a multi-player game but I wouldn't bother playing it offline, it's obvious the game is made to be a co-op experience.

Well that's fine, I'm not (and most people) aren't asking for a reload cancel. I'd just prefer it left me empty on ammo and made a 'click' noise every time I try to fire an empty clip. An automatic reload can only have been programmed as a 'helpful' feature, not as a realistic one or anything to make the game more skilful.

I'd prefer to not have to stare at the HUD as I unload dual pistols, at risk of getting stuck in a 5 second reload animation. It kills immersion. All I'm asking is to let me disable it.....

I did the same thing... kinda.

It was more about the gameplay for me. I just find it really shallow compared to other games. I mean... kill wave of zombies (or whatever they are), run to trader, kill another wave, run to trader...

I just didn't find that fun at all. Add to that, all the maps are brown, dark, and/or dreary, it was just icing on the cake.

Occasionally I do reinstall it and play it for an hour or so just because I feel like I'm missing something (I do the same for TF2... another popular game I don't care much for), but each time I finish disappointed and uninstall the game.
