I will be forever grateful to anyone who finds another gem on this one and recommends it to me. There was another that followed escapees--2, actually. One of them was an after-the-fact that simply recounted the spoken stories of those that fled, and another that follwed the "underground railroad" of NK--a charity group that helped families flee, and specifically 3 or 4 families in the Doc. great little flick.

Thanks for the links, will look into. Any Frontline documentaries on NK? Dedicated documentaries made with passion are usually better but Frontline is one of the best "series" investigative/documentary journalism shows out there.

North Korea always reminds me of a totsl dystopian combination of Nazi Germany and 1984. Kim Jong-Il was an absolute madman, and so was his father. Why we pander to this country is beyond me. There won't be any changes with his son ruling. Just as there were no changes when Kim Il Sung was replaced. Aside from North Koreans getting a cartoonish super villain as their dear leader. It's one less dictator to worry about, but as the Who said, meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

As for Koreans being racist, it's well known that this is the case in the south as well.

This man has brainwashed an entire nation of people. Imagine being put in a room at birth and the only information you get while in the room is what one person tells you. Absolutely no chance to get information from anywhere else. The libraries contain books written only by one person. A park bench was framed and put under glass because 'the dear leader' sat on it one time. They thought he was a God and I can't blame the people because they have no way of knowing anything but what they are told.
