Kind of concerned about my new system. Ram speed is very low

Ok I just upgraded my system got everything hooked up. I
a. Downloaded and successfully installed new bios
b. downloaded all windows up (including windows 8.1)

What I purchased for this system
1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813132038
(ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORMULA)
2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231589
(G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-16GTX )
3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116941
(Intel Core i7-4771 Haswell 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo)

Ok my question are.
1. Why does cpuz and ai suite (asus software) Say my ram is only running at 600mhz or something like that. Is it clocked down when I am not doing intensive work
2. Why does dxdiag under run say I have Directx11 installed. I have Windows 8.1 release installed and its supposed to my 11.2
3. Why when in the bios I change the speed of my ram to anything above 1600 (its default setting is auto) windows crashes as soon as it loads. (i purchased 2400 ram I want 2400 ram lol) (When set to auto it loads up and says 1333 speed)

4. Last and def least Why did my Graphics card box (fully sealed) inside the protective packaging I found a Gummie (like the kids snack) and a very very tiny screw (this one is just for kicks I figured someone might get a lol out of it.)

Is you ram reported to be running at 666Mhz?

That means it's running at the lowest speed your motherboard lists: 3100(O.C)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333

You'll need to go into your BIOS and increase the memory speed.

Maybe you know all this though.

If you increase the ram speed you will have to adjust your ram timings or it'll crash.
The motherboard likely has xmp/auto settings for this, or you can do it manually.

Most motherboards these days default to a safe low ram speed/timings when first booted to avoid problems.

Nowadays timings are automatically adjusted usually when you increase ram frequency. No need for manual or using xmp profiles (unless obviously you have xmp high end memory)

if there automatically adjusted then why does windows 8.1 crash when I load 2400 it ram speed

I found all the setting I need to change but I need to do some research because there all set to auto and wont change. its very frustrating. I like the simplicity of it but its a bit of a learning curve

I did change the frequency to 100:100
and changed the speed to 1600 but now my temps went up in cpuz from 40c to 53cish

Did you try XMP mode in the BIOS? That should automatically set the RAM to rated speeds.

I was able to get it. To change it you have to select it and hit + and -. I changed the ram to 2400 with 1.65v

The thing I dont understand is why does the Dram frequency on CPUZ state that It is running at 1200 Mhz not 2400

Double data rate. Multiply whatever number they give you by two in CPU-Z.

I tried running my ram in XMP mode and it still defaulted to 1333. I have no idea why. I had to manually bump it up to 1866. ASRock Z87M OC Formula.
