I think the problem is that the movie was so long and drawn out that people do not want to watch it muliple times. With most big box office hits, a lot of people go back to watch the movie 3 or 4 times. I rarely go to the theater to watch a movie a second time, but I would definitely not go to see King Kong again, though I thought it was awesome. It was just to long, drawn out, and boring at times.

I got back from it a little while ago. I loved it. There were some slow parts but overall it was a great flick.

Won't top Titanic unfortunately, they had a lot of tricky press going for them, and they kept it in the theaters WAY longer than most other movies did. It was touted as some spectacular movie, and yeah the scenes involving the ship were pretty neat, and yeah the b00bage was nice, but overall it was just a decent flick.

I don't know. I think Kong was too long- Peter Jackson needs to learn how to edit. A LOT of that movie needed to by cut. For instance, the insect attack started to get tedious, the first hour of the movie could have been told in 30 minutes, and the end where Kong and the girl kept staring back and forth at each other started to get REALLY lame after 5 minutes. I'm getting the feeling that Jackson is too full of himself.

The Return of The King was about an hour too long. An extended version would have led to a crapload of people leaving the theater in disgust.

It is doing disapointingly because this is a movie that has already been done many times before. Despite it being a great movie, it was a remake that did not need to be made.

Length has nothing to do with it.

lots of people see movies on a whim. They check the movie schedule after dinner at say... 830pm and if the movie won't let them out till 12-1am and they have to work the next day, they're going to settle for something else instead. There are plenty of people on this boat. And they'll never get around to seeing it.

Lord of the Rings might have been long but it had no really drawn out moments. There was something happening and important in almost every scene.

Seeing an ape and a girl looking at the sunset is boring

Which movie did you see? I didn't see any b00bage when I saw it in the theatre.

I watched the 7:45 tonight... got out of there at 11. I'll admit that my mind was wandering throughout the movie... but I personally didn't like the movie *at all*. It may be that my taste in movies is opposite many of you.... but I think I would rather have been having a root canal done or something.

I typically hate long movies, but I thought King Kong went by relatively quickly. Sure, the first hour wasn't terribly exciting, but at least they were developed. Much better than rushing into the action without anyone caring for the leads.

They could have done away with the sailor kid and the black mentor side story though. That might have saved us 10 minutes of movie time. Also, I noticed that the teaser had a scene where Jack Black is filming Naomi Watts on a beach as she screams. That was cut from the movie.

We know what happens, the movie is about 2 hours to long. Sadly unlike Passion of the Christ it doesn't have a huge following. That's why it won't make much money.

Warning, kinda spoilers....

The bug scene was way overdone, couldn't he think of anything better for an action scene?

The end of the t-rex fight where everybody is swinging in the vines was kind of hokey.

The end, after they get back to NYC, seemed kind of rushed.

Did anybody else notice that the tribespeople kinda looked like a rehash of the bad guys in Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring?? - the commander guys in the first movie with the big bows, forgot what they are called??

Overall enjoyable, but I didn't come away terribly impressed.
