Guess I was just lucky over a year ago when I picked up 2 pieces of PC100 ram from my local VAR that will do (and are doing) 150 FSB. Got my PIII 450 to 675. SWEET! BTW: They were $88 a piece. Just bragging.

So what does that site that loogie links to say? For some reason I can't pull it up. I have some Kingmax PC133 memory that I have always had problems with. I sent it back to the vendor (allstarshop) for an exchange, and they just tested it, claimed it was ok, and sent it back to me. I ended up just buying another stick of memory (crucial) to put in my BE6-II, and have had no problems since. Would love to have some information if there are any known problems with it to get the vendor or Kingmax to stand behind it. As it stands right now, I paid $130 for a stick of memory that's sitting on my desk.

I have no problem getting to the link. In any case, the difference is apparently between version 1.1 and version 1.2, the latter working fine according to the review. Also, again from reading the review, you may be possible to exchange ver. 1.1 for ver. 1.2 from Kingmax (not from your vendor).

Thanks wkc! Mine is ver. 1.1. I'll contact Kingmax & see if I can get some help. Wish I could read that article myself. If I try to ping the site, I get "ttl expired in transit". Never got that before, not sure what the problem is.

Well, RAM is getting cheap again. I'm going to pick up a 128mb stick of pc100, and it shouldn't cost me more then $77 or so. Check Pricewatch for more current prices, they're usually the lowest.

BTW, I saw some generic pc150 ram (128mb) there for $138, so if the other place is out, you could try that.

what do you guys think? is this stuff safe? I need high quality stuff, so I was gonna dish out $170+ for some mushkin or something, but if this is rated at 150, oughtn't it work for my duron?

Memory prices are going down. In Tokyo, PC100 CAS2 128MB stick is less than 10,000 yen which is less than $95 and still falling. You might want to wait a little more.

dtran42 , the biggest problem is data curruption, lockups and errors. Only way you're going to find out is go for it. I have a stick of the Old Samsung -gh (10ns) running 133 FSB @2,2,2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that this RAM is 2,3,2 cl.

my setup:a7v,duron 600. theres more but thats irrelivant. i talked to the guys at mushkin and asked about their 128mb PC150 HSDRAM. they said you have to run it at 2-3-2 and that if you run it at 150mhz yuor are getting the MAX performance out of it. 175 or 145? I chose to go with the kingmax from mwave.com simply because of price and some other interesting factors. Sun offers Kingmax brand for their workstaions. In the press releases for Kingmax, they state that they are partnering with Micron to develop new products. This to me indicates strong biz relations with some of the top manufacturers. They also have a new form called &quot;Tiny BGA&quot; which is suppose to yield more efficiancy with less power consumption. As soon as I receive this memory I will keep you all posted on my results. I plan to overclock my Duron 600 to 1.0Ghz!! We'll see how sucessful I get. One good note is that mwave.com allows for a 7 day return if your not satisfied. Mushkin said that I could try their product and return it for the PC133 rev2 if i wanted and see which one is better. I guess there is no way anyone can really go wrong????<-----(just my $.02)

I have the Kingmax TinyBGA PC133 and am very happy with it. Running it on an Asus A7V,
Duron 600@900, GeForce2MX, etc. with no problems. The Sandra scores are very high. One note is that I am not overclocking the memory (only using the multioplier).

In fact, I was wondering if the PC150 would run with my PC133 frmo Kingmax. Sandra 2000 results:

FPU/Memory Bandwidth 520MB/s
CPU/Memory Bandwidth 423MB/s

yeah you could run your PC133 w/PC150 but since you have to change the latency to 2-3-2 for 150 your actually running your 133 slower than if you bought another 133, get it???

I run my generic pc-100 @ pc-125 with my duron no sweat. works great.

I noticed the other day a stick of ram i had was marked PC-125, wierd.

Its the same 8ns stuff, ones just named pc-100 and ones pc-125.

Both work great. duron loves faster ram. the faster the better.

I will buy this RAM in a few more days once the rest of my parts come in, so that I can pop it in and OC, and if it fails I will return it.
