Seems like memory prices are dropping $10 every two days. I can't wait to see where it ends. This is a scorching deal.

I got this about a week ago when it was 93-10 and just installed it in A64 rig, and it does 2.5-3-3-7 (SPD at 200) even at 210 mhz no problem. Haven't run memtest/prime95 yet as I haven't started overclocking seriously yet.

my prophecy has been fulfilled - 1 gig of ram for less then $75 !!! go see how many morons argued with me 6 months afo that $90 for half a gig is a good deal, ignoring the fact that the market was hitting a high point and ready to crash. In fact they went to great length to try and come up with stupid reasons why it's a good deal and the price will not change anytime soon. hopefully now they learned a lesson not to be so short sighted. you know who i'm talking about

I upgraded on the Corsair deal when it hit $104 delivered and wish I waited for this. Sweet deal.

I am still waiting until a gig of this or the Corsair VS RAM goes down to $50 for my second gig. At this rate we are talking mid April.

I wouldn't be quite that optimistic. You know it can't go down endlessly. I believe we are very close to the bottom, but maybe $65 or so per gig is possible for special deals in coming months. But probably not much lower than that.

Nah, you're wrong.. I'm holding off until I can get 1GB of DDR PC3200 for $25 or less...
Actually, this is a darn good deal, been needing a 1GB upgrade for a while. These prices are finally low enough that I'll consider it.

Yes, I used 2x256MB PC3500 from Kingmax (which is exactly the same as these PC3200) in myAN35N ultra and they worked beatuftifully. They will do only up to 210-215 mhz at 2.5-3-3-7 timings, so choose your CPU multiplier carefully (I got 12x210 = 2520 w/mobile barton on 1.75 V).

Actually fry's now has 512MB for $30AR, so we're already at $60/gig..... maybe it really will go below $50/gig in the near future.... Just a year ago people were paying almost $100 for 512MB and no one believed a crash was coming.

ack so tempting...

should i buy now? don't really have enough cash for ram & cpu yet (i'm on a 1.2tbird with 512mb of pc2100). i was planning on waiting till summer--will prices rise again or is it all downhill from here?

I can use the faster ram and just run asynchronously...and 1gb would be nice because matlab+maple devour my ram.

"maybe it really will go below $50/gig in the near future."

Yes, but with good marketing the folks from OCZ will still sell the good stuff at high prices. It's a winfall for everyone who just needs a Gig of something.

Dunno about that. Flash RAM (CompactFlash, Secure Digital, etc.) has been available for much cheaper than system RAM for quite a while. Haven't been looking, but what's the current deals going for on a gig of flash? What, $40? I think that's the next target for system RAM.

I could be wrong, I could be right. YMMV.

Did you ever notice, that these periods of "plentiful and cheap DRAM"... always seem to happen just before the next big OS release from MS, one which often takes 2X the RAM that the prior version did, to be able to run efficiently? I'm not trying to draw any more concrete conclusions than that, but I've noticed that on several occasions in the past too. It always struck me as very, very curious. (It could be coincidental, major OS release schedules and DRAM chip process-technology/density improvements, could have a similar cycle lifetime I suppose.)

?? The next major MS OS release isn't for a long while though, unless you count XP-64 as a major new OS (which it really isn't).
