Guys, I need some advice:
I plan to buy (today if I get my questions cleared out, or tomorrow) the Following system:
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Pentium4 2.4c
Gigacube ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128Mb DDR VIVO
The most important question comes ... with memory selection (surprised? )
I'm looking at 2 options here, KINGSTONingly speaking for a total 1Gb Dual DDR:
Kingston HyperX Series 184pin 16B Kit (2x512Mb) DDR433 (PC3500) DDR Ram Modules, Model #KHX3500K2/1G
Latency: CAS Latency 2-3-3-7-1T (on newegg they r listed as 2-2-2-7-1T, which I believe is wrong)
Kingston KVR400X64C3/512 512Mb 400MHz DDR PC3200 DIMM RAM CL3 (I need 2x of these to make 1Gb)
I plan to stick with 2.4GHz for a while, then latter (this year, maybe start of 2004), make some overclock to squeese the most lifetime of that processor. I'm not an overclock addict , and I don't need to push it too far, I just want a stable system.
So I need your opinion on this matters:
[1] Will I go free of trouble with those memories? Which should I choose, PC3200 or PC3500?
[2] For that future overclock, I initially planned on putting a 250Mhz FSB to have an "equivalent" 3.0c, and set DDR400 to a 4:5 ratio. But what would my best option be if I choose PC3500 instead?
[3] I understand the basics of overclocking of processor, and CPU-MEM ratios, but how does overclock work on memory modules? Can I also change the memory frequency separatly from CPU FSB?
[4] If I put SPD setting on BIOS (to get the default timings for memory installed), will I be able to see those timings on BIOS? (like read-only timings, in gray color or something, you get the idea)
Thanks
