but imagine running DDR460 at 2-2-2-5 which it probably can because it's rates 500Mhz and you're underclocking by 40Mhz

Not sure what your experience consists of, but it can make a good deal of difference. Try 400mhz with CL3, 7-4-4 and then try CL2, 5-2-2....

It depends entirely on the application. You could write something where cas3 is 50% slower, and something where the difference is insignificant.

id rather have ddr400 at 2 2 2 5 than ddr1000 at 5-5-567

dunno....time will tell I guess. 2.8V+ usually works wonders on tight timings so I can't wait to see what people on anandtech forums will get as far as results go
