Not sure if this is posted or not, but I just got back from Office Max and starting Sunday (6/3) the CD-R's have a $9 instant rebate which makes it $8.99 + tax. I found out about this because they accidentally posted the price early, but gave it to me for the discounted price anyway.

I burned one yesterday, it works well (drive recognizes the CD quickly, good transfer rate). They have a light green bottom.

I have a few stacks of Kingstons from Outpost yet and have not had a problem with one yet. great deal. If I did not have 300 blanks as it is I would order some.

The Kingston CD-R's that I have definitely are not the same as Imation. The Kingston are much better and have never had problems for me.

Last time I visited OM they were selling Kensington CDRs. Are we talking Kingston or Kensington?

i dunno about them being better than imation. i think the imations i have are a tad better. but for the price kingston cdrs are definitely nice. better than those cheapo PNY garbage.

Me and a couple of friends have used the Kingston 12x's for a while...these things kick ass! Ive burned at least one hundred, and my two friends combined = two hundred more...these are great!

We used an 8x plex, a 12x plex, and a 12x Lite-on...all work great with these Cds...

Just got back from OM with 6 spindles

Btw these spindles are red in color, not black like in the add...

these will go great with my new 16x10x40 iomega.. people look at you funny when you buy 150 blanks... btw the OM I went to (Irvine) didnt label the discount on the shelf. Also the ad has the black label spindle while mine are actually red labels..

Anybody know if these cdr's are good for valuable or sensitive information or are good for just normal backups, copies to friend's etc.?

I have used about 500 of the Khypermedia Brand(kingston). I have to come to the conclusion that...

They suck for Media(Video, Audio)
They are great for backups of CD or data.

The CDs just don't handle the framerates of video very well and the audio quality definitely declines when you burn to the media.

the audio quality declines? How can that be since it's digital. It either reads the bits or doesn't.

Audio declines??? These arent analog tapes. I have burned about 500 audio cds of the kingston. Before that I burned a couple of 100 imations. There all made by cmc. I have had no problems with my audio. These are by far the best cheap cds to get

The Kingston Hypermedia and Imation CDs are both made by CMC Magnetics (as was posted by Hgabriel). Thus, the dye used in the CDs are exactly the same (as long as you're comparing the same speed CDs. 8X CDs use a different dye than 12X CDs). Personally, I have never seen a difference between the two brands of CDs, those claiming they have had different experiences with both CDs may just be using two different "speeds" of CDs.

I have also used both for audio, and data, and have never had any problems (no audio degradation or anything to that effect). I haven't tried using it for video yet, so I don't know how well it performs.

Great price for the CDs though, I'm gonna run out and grab a few spindles for myself.

Sweet deal.

Just got back from a walk to OM (its only half a mile away =) ) with a bag of four spindles.

I've used many Imation brand CDRs and if this one is made by the same manufacturer, I can vouch for their dependability.

One thing I did noticed while putting the stack of new spindles next to the ones still left over from OM's Fuji Films CDRs is the clarity of the plastic used. The sunlight from my window refracted through the spindle along the narrow edge of the CD stack and I could see that the Kingstons have a slight greenish tint to their transperancy while the Fuji's do not.
Perhaps this is due to the dye used in the reflective layer, but the Kingston also had much more noticable distortion in the plastics than the Fuji Films.

Nonetheless, this is a great deal. I'll be using couple of spindles to unload my 90Gbs of stuff D/Led from Usenet. Cripes there's a lot of stuff out there!!!
