Just wondering, im going to buy some memory, but im limited on money. Im thinking of either getting Kingston Hyper X 3500 512mb, or a stick of Mushkin 512 3200 512mb. Which one is a better choice for a IS7-E / 2.6c Setup? I'm wanting to get the best one for overclocking. Thanks in advance.

Out of those 2 the Kingston cause the 3500 should have more headroom over the 3200. Also get 2 sticks to take advantage of the dual DDR.

I'm using the HyperX in the ASUS P4P800 deluxe. I have a P4 2.4 OC'ed to 2.8 no issues with the memory using the SPD setting on the HyperX thru the BIOS. I know I still have more room to OC. I had to stop as the P4 was getting a bit too warm (52C) using the stock HSF. Kingston has great tech support - no long waits on the phone for support. I hope this helps

Mushkin does make very good ram and depending on which Mushkin its gauranteed to run at 2 2 2 timings at I believe 434 mhz for the 3500. Compare the Mushkin 3500 to the Kingston 3500 talk about exspensive lol.

3200 will work fine if your not trying for the BIG overclock with the BEST timings, but like I said you still want 2 sticks to run the dual channel. You can easily go with the 3200 2 sticks and run very well just would have to go for the 5:4 ratio to get the higher FSB.

Hyper X.

Just like others said, more headroom... Plus if my 3200 is an example of how well your 3500 will run, well then your in luck...

My 3200 does 220FSB. 2/3/3/7

calfpheen, your signature says you already have 2x256 Geil 3500 Ultra Platinum RAM sticks in your system. Are you looking to get this additional RAM 1) as a replacement for what you already have, or 2) simply to add-on to what you already have?

If it's #2, be wary that mixing RAM manufacturers can actually result in a loss of performance rather than an increase. In this situation, I think you'd be better off getting 2 more sticks of 256 Geil 3500 Ultra Platinum RAM to make a set of 4 matching sticks for best performance.

Pffit Mushkin is where its at...

Its like saying : " I can buy a porche or a camero" Sure the Camero and Porche can both do over 100mph but the porche can do so much more and is way cooler. Not to say that Kingston cant do high FSB speeds but the Mushkin 3200 is most likely 2-2-2-5 or something like that...

Mushkin == the hard-core #1

Pfft...

I think Hyper X 3200 @ 220 FSB 2/3/3/7 explains it...

The geil 3500 ultra plat is currently what i have, but i am selling it soon so im buying some better ram. The reason is because my ram is more then likely my bottleneck of my overclock. I just got a bad set of sticks that wont do good in overclocking, others have the same ram as me and got better oc's, i just think im unlucky. So im going to try my luck with either kingston hyper x or mushkin. I'm kinda pushing towards mushkin cause they are indeed "high class" ram with great performance. But hyper x has been getting awesome performance as well.

i got kingston hyperx pc3200 and currently i'm running 416.6 on it with 2-4-4-7. this pair i have is rated at 2-2-2-6 but i can't get anywhere pass 400 with that timing unless i relax the timings. but i think 2-4-4-7 is not bad.

I haven't had a chance to try other brands so i can't make any comparison. But i feel that hyperx sucks a lot of juice and even at 2.85 volts it seems hyperx needs more!
