What are the chances of getting two rebates out of this deal? Should I order twice and submit two different addresses for the rebates or is the credit card address referenced?

Excellent deal. The memory prices are truly going up, across the board. This might be the last chance to get excellent memory for $100+tax.

This memory actually carries the Winbond BH-5 chips you'll get from newegg for $94 the cheapest as PC3200. Only this one has been tested to work at 217 with CAS2 which means some of the better chips. Heat spreaders are nice to protect the PCB and chips from morons.

Did anyone look at the "$20" rebate linked at BB?

BRAND: Kingston Technologies
MODEL: KVR333/512R
SKU: 5489394
REBATE: $30

Huh? Why is it $30? Is that the right model number? Could this memory be $90 each?

I called Best Buy's phone # yesterday, as I was getting linked to the wrong rebate form on their website for these modules. This morning, I checked again and it took ~6 refreshes/browser-reopens to get the right link the rebate form, kept taking me to the rebate form for their KVR333 modules. Keep trying, you'll eventually get the right form up.

Try this link: KHX3500/512 $20 MIR
(Appears to not load the right page at least 1/2 the time, worked for me though)

That looks like a different brand to me, meaning your "rebate" would likely be rejected.

Its really only about $15 cheaper anyways. You can find it online for about $127 total at other stores. ANyways this is just single stick of ram. Wish it was for the kit and I could use it.

Only $15? You have money to burn?
Man, Best Buy is a place of no hassle returns. You have a complete peace of mind. There is no such thing online. Xtremegear is not a bad place to buy but if there is anything wrong I can assure you they are not the people to deal with. Only if everything is smooth.

By the way $120 + tax ... say $8 = $128 - rebate = $108.

Xtremegear $127.

Looks to me like $19 not $15?

Actually as I said the best deal is newegg Buffalo for $94 though that is only PC3200. It would, most likely, run well as PC3500 but not certain, so it is a gamble. And has no heat spreaders which is a nice thing to protect the stick. Looks good too.

$15 is nothing. And my point was, if the rebate is for something different, the price difference is minimal. Best buy is good and all but, remember you still have to pay taX(if you live in cali like I do) and shipping(If you order online).

Last time BB did this, I got a stick, and it would give me errors at 180MHz CAS3! I exchanged for another, similar problem! Right now I have 2x512MB Kingston PC3000 HyperX running dual channel at 185MHz CAS2, although I had to exchange 1 of them (online vendor), as it was also marginal.
I am wondering if BB is getting the crap sticks from Kingston, or it may just be my luck. I am very tempted to try it again, although I hate to have to return it if it does not work right...
So far, I tried 5 sticks of Kingston HyperX, and 3 were marginal... Pretty bad QC problem if you ask me... And that wasn't even due to running in dual channel - they would give me errors in Memtest-86 when run by themselves...

@modempower:
I think you are obviously wrong, if the rebate works. Without rebate I don't know though for the similar price ($1 or$2 difference even with a tax) I would go Best Buy over Xtremegear ANY TIME.

I think you have compatibility problem. If you have NForce2 board that doesn't surprise me at all. I have like 10+ computers and a total of 5 NForce2 boards (maybe more!?) and I always buy prime memory but usually I spend quite a bit of time to figure out which stick works the best with which board.

I have HyperX PC3200 in my Abit NF7-S running 203 FSB at 2-2-2-5-1 with no problem at all.

No compatibility problems as far as I can see. Why does PC3000 HyperX work then, and not PC3500?
I have the Abit NF7-S 2.0, same as you. I've tested all the sticks extensively (several passes in Memtest-86), so I'm pretty confident in my conclusions. Marginal sticks.

Well, sure you know better what is going on with your PC. My Abit is v1.1, I upgraded BIOS though and that made a heck of a difference, prior to that I was not able to hit 200 no matter what voltages I set. Now I am going easy to 209 with 1.7V on the chipset. Perhaps even more but relaxed memory setings would bring me back on the badwidth so it is not worth.

I dont know why are you talking about xtremegear, theres other places with it just as cheap. Anyways, staples tops them all off, you can get ram from staples without a rebate for probably about same price or $10 less or so. And staples is there all the time. Actully in this case, because not too many people carry the single 512mb sticks of 3500, the bestbuy deal is probably cheapest. Most of other ram though you can get cheapest from staples and saves that precious $15.

Which other places?
When you know how to get it cheaper why don't you just post the deal? If you are talking about IM parts, let us know how you did it instead of talking nonsense.

the bestbuy deal is probably cheapest.
???
So what is the point of your posts?

I personally think this is a smoking deal. Googlegear and Newegg each have this ram for much higher prices. Best Buy, so you can walk right in and return it without any issues.

CL2, great reviews, great for overclocking. And a gig of it for $220 out the door with CA Tax.

I bought a gig, so did my friend. Awesome deal.. now if only the new Bestbuy.com didn't suck the donkey and take forever to load it would be great.

BTW, buy one stick using a credit card and another using cash. That's what I did.. both rebates won't be a problem.

Theres 2 NY stores I know of that have it for $127 shipped, no tax. And staples is always cheapest for CPU and Ram most of the time. The reason it isnt for this stick is because you have to pricematch, and googlegear.com is really one of few online places they will. Googlegear price for this particular stick is really high for some odd reason, or else staples WOULD be the cheapest. It would still come to like $118 or so shipped from staples which isnt bad.
The only problem right now with staples is they got whored out of their ram and seem to have alot out of stock ATM.

the bestbuy deal is probably cheapest.

Really? Which ones?
You have problem finding them?
Need help?
And how is $127 from a "no name" store better deal than this Best Buy?

You can actually PM this to Staples using IM parts. I doubt they would honor rebate in PM but one can try. The trouble is that you cannot return this to the Staples store since they do not carry the thing in the store. Another problem is that I do not see any substantial coupons except for $30 off $150 but if the rebate doesn't get into the PM it is more expensive than in BB for a lot of hassle too.

Yup thats why I was saying this is a decent deal for this particular stick, if someone actually wanted a single channel 3500. I wasnt saying they would PM to bestbuy, I guess you COULD try it, but I doubt it. You pricematch to googlegear.com, and like I said, for some reason googlegear has it way higher than other stores for this stick.

Good lord man....You need some help... I wasnt saying its better, I was just saying if you didnt want to or couldnt get on this deal right now or something, you can get it from other places for not that big of a price difference.

It's a great deal if you want to run dual channel as well. Buy 2 sticks. Problem solved.

Yes but I didnt want to get into that argument..... To give the quick version, 1gb of ram is useless imo. Id rather spend $100 or so on 512mb KIT for dual channel. But like I said, I didnt want to get into that, that is my opinion. If you want 1gb of ram, by all means...

EDIT: btw steve if you really wanted staples IM parts, I will post them..
