512MB Linky

Here is the link for the 512MB parts which are $90 each. Same great price but timings are quoted as 2-3-2-6-1 (CAS Latency 2) compared to the 2-2-2-5 at +2.7V listed for the 256 Mb parts.

Don't you just love the way RAM timings are so consistently reported?

Enjoy!

That one is the CH-5, so no BH-5 lovin' there... Look at the part number and this one is the "A" version, which means CH-5, thus the 2-3-2-6-1 timings...

I ordered a four of the 256 and one 512 over the weekend. All five I received were indeed BH5, and were shipped from Ohio warehouse.

Wish I could have ordered a few more 512, they had a limit of one

Great deal. My 2 sticks of 256MB came today. Was thinking about picking up 2 of the 512 MB, but
Limit 1 Per Customer/Name/Address.

What about all those dual channel mobos out there. Seems like a dumb restriction.

Just looked at Kingston web site. The HyperX DDR400 with the timing of the 2-2-2-5 cost $84 and $160 for the 256MB & 512 MB modules respectitively. This is definitely hot.

Can't confirm, but bios is reading timing as 2-2-2-5. Heat spreaders are on pretty securely, not the easy to remove wire type spring clips. I could probably get them off, but has label "Warranty Void if Removed". If I removed them you probably could tell.

2-2-2-5 could be the new Samsung ultra low latency chips, you can try running it at 3-3-3-8 manual settings and if it doesnt post then it could be bh-5 because bh-5 can only run cas 2 or cas 2.5 from what I was told, unsure if the samsung chips would refuse to post or not at cas 3 as well, if so the only sure way would be to remove the spreaders, as long as it runs at the latencies you want doesnt really matter what chips it is anyways as long as it performs =P

I want to know how high it can go....right now it is 2.2.2.5 @2.7V 200.
Anybody tried to push it higher than 200? If it is bh-5 it is capable of reaching higher right?

bh-5 can hit 240-250 with 3.2~3.3 vdimm at 2-2-2-6 or 2.5-2-2-6 timings on avg from what I've heard

i would try to set it manually to cas 2 but in regards to if its bh-5 or not:

only sure way to tell is to remove the heatspreaders (voids warranty however)

in general:

bh-5 should spd at cas 2, but not all motherboards spd right (normally 2-2-2-6 at ddr400)

you can try to manually set cas to 3, most other ram will run cas 3 but bh-5 will not, if you try it make sure you know where clear cmos jumper is or remove cmos battery and replace to reset it so it will go back to defaults

I received 4 sticks today. I poped the Heatspreaders off of 2 of them. I could not belive it Winbond BH5. How could they have any bh5, unless they found a container truck of something of them??

I hang @ xtremesystems and i've posted and tested there. They are BH5's. I put them in my Vapo LS rig 3400dtr @ 3ghz. im running them @ 260 fsb 1:1 cas 2-2-2 3.45 volts.

Again if you've been looking for BH5, dont snooze, you all know how outpost is, they run out and still show in stock.

Either Kingston had some hoarded or these were laying around in the Outpost warehouse not moving (maybe due to being severely overpriced or such before these pricecuts). Either way good deal for some good ram.

tried cas 3 at it would not post. I guess it is BH-5. But when I did 230 @ 3.2 it screwed up my window. Did I do anything wrong? Do I have to increase chipset voltage and CPU evem though cpu ghz remains same?
