Googlegear apparently dropped this price on this RAM.

Link to 512mb 512mb

Link to 256mb 256mb

Seems like a pretty good deal on memory, considering the Crucial PC2700 is only 9$ cheaper for a 256mb stick.

Rated to run at 2-3-3-1T @ 185mhz. Single bank modules. Lifetime warranty.

Ram prices are really comming down at the high end. CAS 2 512MB 2700 memory used to be like $160 or so just a little while ago. I was going to buy 512 of ram before, but now that prices are dropping fast I'll get 2!

I know

But I don't think its ever gonna drop in price...not until like PC3800 or whatever is next. Corsair doesn't drop until the next one comes out, and even then it doesn't really drop (XMS3000, 3200, and 3500 are all the same pretty much). Plus this TwinX junX just came out :Q I got some money burning a hole in my pocket from parts sales....argh!!!! There were rumors of mem prices dropping after Chinese New Year b/c of the RAM makers in Asia, but I ain't seen any drops on Corsair :disgust:

They're dropping slowly. It's noticeable if you don't check the price everyday. You've got some money to burn?? w00t...Donate to the poor...namely me.

Next time I light a cig with a C-note I'll think of you

But yah, I think the TwinX has dropped like $7 in the last week or so. I'll probably pick it up soon as I don't expect it to drop sub-$400 within a month. Plus with the recent announcements that DDR-II won't even be fully supported on mobos until middle of next year, it should have a nice useful life.

Heh, i hate how RAM prices drop so fast, makes you feel sorry for paying more a month ago =p

Kingston is not a good overclocker, so if your going to OC i would reccomend getting another brand.

Regular kingston may not be so good, but their HyperX line is supposed to be really good for OC'n if ya look through the different forums. Have 2 sticks on the way already to test out

I think prices are going to keep coming down. Especially on 2700 & 2100. I wouldn't be suprised to see them dip below that crazy stuff we saw last time when crucial 256 pc2100's were going for like $30 shipped.

Heh yah I remember that, picked up 512mb PC2100 for like $62 shipped from Crucial..like October 2001.

Anyways, this stuff is supposed to OC well, but with relaxed timings (cas 2 3-3-7). you're not gonna get cas 2 2-2-6 like you will with Corsair from what I've read. Its rated at 5.4ns IIRC, and the 3500 HyperX is supposed 4.6ns from the tech sheets. From most indications Corsair is using WinBond 5ns modules. I think I'm gonna stick to Corsair though, starting at tight timings will give more flexibility when you go over specs.

Has anyone seen PC3000 before? If so, what good is running at 370Mhz? Or is it just for overclocking in place of PC2700?

Yah, a few mem makers like Corsair etc. put them out as incremental steps due to JEDEC spec uncertainties. Like you said, its just an incremental step-up from PC2700, before PC3200 chips were in abundance. However, at this point they may very well be the same rated memory chips in ns.

Does anyone have a link to a review of the ram? At this time it seems like a good mate for overclocked budget chips, ie good performance for little more than 2700.

just got my memory today. It's kickass. Running it on my p4 1.6a @ 2.6 ghz with a 3:4 memory multiplier, at DDR 434 speed with the lowest memory timings.. its running great. Using 2.6 voltage I believe, haven't got to test to make sure its 100% rock solid yet. My old memory was samsung pc2700, which I ran at cas 1.5, but this memory won't run at cas 1.5 at any speed, only 2.0 which isn't a big deal. I had some corsair xms pc3500 memory, man, it just sucked. I couldn't get it to run on my motherboard with any good speeds or memory timings.. it was messed up.. this is running great at pc3500 speed for me

I paid $87 + tax for sticks of 256MB Corsair XMS3200C2' a month ago, and now they're still roughly the same price.
