So is anyone reporting this HyperX memory working in the dell 400SC systems..?Single 256/512 chips or matched pairs kits 256/512 rams..?
as the dell part KTD8300/512 is 3-3-3- and Hyperx is 2-3-2
Anyone know..?

And that's what's confusing me: Why would HyperX, which seems to be "superset" of normal PC3200 (i.e. more capable of being pushed if you choose to push it), for lack of a better word, be less compatible?

Except for timings what the difference between their model #KHX3200A/512, 2-3-2-6-1, for $98. and model #KHX3200/512, 2-2-2-6-1, for $111.? Does anyone know if Kingston uses Winbond BH5 or CH5 chips for their latest HyperX? I'm leaning towards a Abit 865 board but over at the Abit forum there's complaints about Abit boards not liking the CH5 chips.

What's better CH2 or CH5?

At newegg the reviewers claim this chip works with the 400SC:

Linky to Buffalo 2.5CL CH5 512mb sticks

Buffalo Technology 512MB 6 Layer PC3200 DDR Memory Module CL 2.5 32X8 (Winbond Module), Part# DD4002-512 - OEM
Specifications:
Type: 184-pin DDR
Capacity: 512MB
Speed: DDR400
6 Layer DIMM Model#: DD4002-512

Newegg reviewer/marketer:

Based on the above review, I ordered a pair of these for my Dell Poweredge 400sc (I875 chipset based) "server" and am very glad that I did. The Dell BIOS used in the 400sc is notorious for being picky about RAM and underclocking high performance modules if it determines the SPD timings are too agressive Fortunatly, these run as advertised at 400 mhz in dual channel mode at CAS 2.5. (2.5-3-3-8) I've torture tested these for 3 straight days and encountered absolutely no issues of any sort in a low airflow case using only a single 1200 RPM 92mm fan cooling the CPU and other system components.

On the budget end of the spectrum I'd argue that these modules are the BEST price-performance purchase out there at stock speeds for 400 mhz RAM. Couple with that the overclocking headroom present in the Winbond CH-5 chips used on these modules and you've got a "best in class" product here.

Just got my Ram Today, Kingston PC3200 512mb Kit Part # KHX3200AK2/512 As seen HERE 2-3-2-6 for $100 shipped 2nd day free..!

Yes this ram is faster, and it will be a better choice for ram as for futor upgrades to after market mother boards. This ram will run faster in those situations for sure. Crucial is 3-3-3-

The $98.00 one is a single stick of 512mb, $100 one is two matched 256mb sticks (a dual channel kit)

The price has now dropped to $89 for the 512MB HyperX PC3200 or you can get the "dual kit" for $176. Your getting premium memory for cheaper than most of the lower grade memory that's out there.

I have to say this stuff is spectaculer. I just isntalled the 1GB kit of pc3200 2-2-3-6 over my crucial 512MB pc3200 CL3 and there is a serious difference. Everything is snappier/loads faaster. Can't wait to see the gamign difference. I play some games that eat up WAY over 512 such as battlefield 1942 and star wars galaxies
