This might be a stupid question....but is the 300-watt powerful enough? I want to get my wife one of these but I want to make sure it's got enough juice.

Has anyone had a problem with their refurbished unit? My mixer seems to have a problem with what appears to may be a fuse(It's the flat headed screwdriver looking screw on both sides of the head.) If it gets loose the unit will not turn on, I then have to get a screwdriver and tighten it. I'm going to have to call Kitchenaid about it to see what they say.

Depends on what she is going to use it for. I hear that the more powerful ones are the ones to get for dough mixing. I have the 325W version that was listed in this thread at one time and it does fine for mixing up batters and other things I have done with it in the two weeks I have had it.

I've had a 325W ProLine model for ten years or so... it's used heavily, mostly with the dough hook for heavy whole-wheat doughs. It's never missed a beat (no pun intended!) This is the 5qt model with the lifting bowl, not the tilt. These things are built solid - all the serious cooks and bakers in my family own them, and several machines have been passed on to a second generation. I've got just about every accessory there is, but the one I would recommend most is having at least one extra bowl.

This will be perfect. I've burned up 3 mixers in 4 years. I'm sure this will last longer.

Just ordered one, this item evidently qualifies for a $15 off $75 promotion (available @ another site) the website wouldn't take the promo code, but a friendly CSR applied it for me.

The $20 GC should apply also, Details, states it's valid for appliances that are >$99 before promo codes etc.

The math:

Mixer _____$99
promo code-$15
GC_______-$20
Total _____$64

Not a bad deal, except I need to buy a different house now with more counter space

Even still, $150 is a helluva deal. I bought one for my wife a couple of years ago for $300.

WOW! $99 for a mixer sounds high enough! But $369 retail for a mixer? That sounds outlandish to me! But then again, I've never bought many kitchen appliances in my lifetime.
If you don't bake A LOT, then you may not think it's worth it. It's very high quality, and worth every penny for someone who uses it a lot.

Darn... 2 Bad I didn't see this... But, I guess I didn't do too bad. Found the 50.00 dollar gold cupon for the blue one. 325 W brand New. Got a free set of pans with it. Probably throw away pans but good for camping or whatever... Anyway. Came out to 199 w/free shipping. And got a free 69.00 grinder with it. So, I guess it's not too bad. We wanted the grinder anyway so basically I got it for 130 bucks considering I would have had to shell out 70 for a grinder. Haven't used it yet but the wife likes it! This is the Tilt version. I think the top pro version is way too costly.
