I knew how this game would turn out when James took that helmet to helmet/facemask/unnecessary roughness on the kick return with no call after San Fran got called for unnecessary roughness for going shoulder to shoulder.

At least they are consistently blowing calls and leaving no doubt that the fix is in.

That's not how it works. If they go up 6 earlier, they would have kicked off and who knows what happens in the ensuing SF drive.

4th and 1 is very convertible. Going up 6 just forces SF to drive for a game-winning TD instead of a game-tying FG. Carroll made the right call.
