Kaep is good because he isn't going to take a max contract to keep. The salary cap is real, and he makes under a million a year. Comparing him to alex smith when that guy makes so much more money is dumb. Defense wins championships. Spend your big money on defense. And the offensive line, too.

He's a bargain now but you don't think his next contract will avg $15M per season with $30M+ guaranteed? And if they win the Super Bowl this season, upgrade that to Jay Cutler type money.

~ $30M guaranteed may not be terrible; they need to avoid clearly bad deals like those given to Joe Flacco or Cutler.

so picks for next week...went undefeated in playoffs this year but KC and Cincy fubared me already. thought it would be a SF-CAR game next week and if smith is out I'd lean niners but it's pretty much a coin flip game now.

I want to pick Denver, New England, Seattle and Carolina. But I wouldn't put money on any of those games.

No the chiefs lost, Alex Smith had almost a 120 qb rating. He did his job, the defense did not do theirs.

Football is not 1 player, its a team. Kap is a average QB at best right now, Rodgers and Smith are better QBs and both played much better but their teams lost.

This is the second playoff run the Niners have had with Kap and he is average at best? Yeah, ok. You must have missed that 98 yards rushing from Kap too.

I am just happy Lambeau field was silenced.

Less than 60% throwing and QB rating less than 80%, his numbers are still worse than Alex Smiths.

They went to the packers home and beat them under harsh conditions. Kap did an excellent job. Alex Smith, while I respect him tremendously, is at home watching the playoffs.

Close game, I'd say it is hard to see my team lose but I thought the 49ers had the better team this year, especially heading into the playoffs. Still, amazingly close game. Had they gotten that interception at the end it probably would have gone the other way.

Guess I'm a Seahawks fan for the rest of the playoffs.

last play of Chargers game I saw was the Ginger fumbling on the headfirst dive in the 3rd quarter, and I hear it just went awesome after that.

SF is pretty tough to beat when he runs. I almost wonder if they decided he should only run in the playoffs to minimize the risk of injury. I just hope we get to see SF vs Seattle in the conference game.

Kap has no touch, that's his big problem. He can't throw a floater over the middle of the field to save his life.

Plus, he's about as dumb as it gets. AMDZen has a higher football IQ than Kaeperhole. Dude is a phenomenal athlete, and he made about 3 amazing plays today, but he's still "middling"

It looks like, now, that he "deserves" more money than either of those, but none of them are worth that money.

Kaep just an average QB? Is that why he went to the superbowl? Why he had one of the best QBR ratings in 2012? Why he had one of the best QBR ratings in 2013 despite missing his best receiver? Why he rushed for 98 yards and Rodgers rushed for zero? Why he simply outplayed Rodgers, the best QB in the game, the last 3 times they played?

Smith is a better QB? Really? With a far lower QBR rating and lower QB rating this year? And if Smith had to play against Seatle twice, his numbers would look like far worse this season.
