And that is precisely the problem. It's a creature that at WORST only deserves your indifference. Being physically abused to the point of shattered bones and torn limbs only demonstrates a distinct lack of anything resembling humanity compassion in these kids. How is it possible for a group of teenagers to be laughing and saying "cool!" as they dropkick a kitten and hear its bones break and listen to it scream? That level of cruelty and disregard should be punished severely.

This is why this happens. There are people like TallBill out there that thinks animals are just animals. It's the same as kicking a football. It's not like the kitten cries, tries to escape, feels pain, or is completely terrified and miserable during the experience. It's just an animal!

I have two responses to this

1. why the heck did someone spend all that money to save the life of an ownerless kitten? It shouldn't have been saved and put up for adoption, it should've been euthanized. Not only is it a waste of resources with all the other cats we have running around that don't need surgery, but that cat is probably pretty seriously effed in the head after all that and won't make the best pet.

2. It's just a cat, however these kids clearly don't have the proper respect for life and need a good ass-whooping.

You can't fix that with an ass kicking. They are screwed up in the head. They will grow up to be horrible people. These are classic signs of deep emotional problems. The kind of problems that are going to cost tax payers a lot of money putting these kids in prison as adults.

I was taught that small animals deserve to be treated with respect. Even more so then humans because they can not defend themselves or speak up for themselves. All they can do is suffer. At the same time, they are just animals. If you have a very sick dog and you can't afford to treat it or find help to treat it then you put that dog down as painlessly and humanly as possible. You don't run it over with a truck three or four times laughing about the stupid dog.

Everyone should take a moment and go to a pet store and hold a small kitten. Then visualize placing that kitten on the ground and stomping it's brains out. If that makes you feel happy inside then do us all a favor, buy a shotgun and blow your brains out. If that makes you feel disgusted inside, try to imagine how someone who would feel happy about this treats other humans.

On #1, obviously I don't know. In general however I would agree, the poor thing should have been put down quickly. However, if the person who found the cat paid for the operation or if the vet did it himself at his own expense, I have no problem with it. Hopefully because it was so young it won't be too effed in the head.

As for #2, the ass-whooping should be delivered poste-haste

You may be right but I can't help that. Rats are generally viewed as vermin and are killed on sight, except for that small percentage of people who do keep them as pets. The kids would quite probably never picked up a rat to begin with, nor would a grown rat allow itself to be caught like that. An unsuspecting kitten however ...

I never said that kicking a cat was cool. I've never done ANYTHING purposefully to harm any animal and never have any intentions of doing so.

Ehh I don't condone cruel treatment to rats either. They may be disgusting little critters but I wouldn't play hockey with them to kill them. If they have to be put down, I do it as quickly and painlessly as possible. That's why I hate using sticky pads and finding a mouse stuck in it. I try to drown/end it as soon as possible.

But really what would you do? Fucking with frogs and shit are one thing (though still punishable if it turns to cruelty), but I'd be mortified if my kid severly abused a cat or dog.
