While I think animal abuse is unfortunate and would never approve of this kind of behavior, you have to realize it's just a stupid cat. It is an animal, not a person. If they do catch these kids they deserve nothing more than a slap on the wrist and a stern talking to from the authorities. I'd be fine with having them beat up by their parents, though.

I'm afraid I'll have to agree to disagree with you here and leave it at that. As a pet owner all my life I'm afraid that it is not "just a stupid cat". What is going through the kids minds as the cat is screeching in pain and fear as its getting punted across the lawn? As it's limbs shatter and get partially ripped from its body? No, there is no excuse for this sort of behavior and it should be dealt with harshly.

one time these guys in highschool were talking about this cat that had just had kittens and they found her dead with the kittens still alive, so they threw them up in the air and used them as target practice with shotguns.

Guess what? They aren't.

The teens responsible are unsympathetic jerks who need some serious re-education (e.g. a good caning), but they don't exactly deserve to be skinned alive.

Whether or not its just a "stupid cat", it takes a real sick fuck to abuse an animal. Especially to that point. What those kids do deserve would be deemed 'cruel and unusual', so it'll never happen. Too bad.

This. It's just a fucking animal.

And that is precisely the problem. It's a creature that at WORST only deserves your indifference. Being physically abused to the point of shattered bones and torn limbs only demonstrates a distinct lack of anything resembling humanity compassion in these kids. How is it possible for a group of teenagers to be laughing and saying "cool!" as they dropkick a kitten and hear its bones break and listen to it scream? That level of cruelty and disregard should be punished severely.
