I have been custom building my own speaker cabinets for years. I have tried sub $100 offerings from sony, jbl, pioneer and kenwood for shelf systems liek these, and also floor speakers. with the exception of the lack of bass, and more importantly, bass response, these are the best sounding off the shelf speakers i have tried in the $100 price range. I am going to be pairing these with a custom 12" sub I will be making, plus a custom center channel speaker(with only 2 mid-ranges, using this speaker in center is bad for imaging, you want the tweeters in the corners, not the center) for a nice low-cost 5.1 setup for my other TV room. BTW, KLH is not shitty. IIRC K stands for Kloss, the guy who made bose, and the H stands for Hardon, the guy who joined up with Kardon, to form that company...KLH is an old company.

Don't bother if you live in the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue area. I called at least 6 stores Monday afternoon and they were ALL SOLD OUT!
Eventhough their stupid website lets you buy them thinking you can pick them up-WRONG!. You get an email half an hour later stating:
Unfortunately, the items you ordered were not found at our store. Please
contact our Customer Care representatives at onlinestore@bestbuy.com or
toll-free at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289) to check product availability at
other locations, or we'll be happy to ship those items to you free of charge.

They also will not "Ship them at this time".
Oh well maybe next time.

Both my receiver and speakers are shipped from CA. maybe that is directly from KLH's factory.

Hard to imagine how much shipping cost they pay for the $20 speakers....

actually now that i double checked my box they came in, they shipped from Findlay, Ohio.,

these are weighed in on my ups label at 33lbs, and i have no idea how expensive that shipping is. There was an error in their site when i ordered so their site let me get FREE next day shipping shipped thurs, i received friday at 3pm

after i did a check on ups's web site...
UPS Ground
Guaranteed Day-Definite
Total Rate(USD) 13.23*

Thats the normal shipping for everyone..

this is the shipping i got.
UPS Next Day Air Saver®
Guaranteed by Next Day
Total Rate(USD) 84.70*

I paid 20.xx bucks shipped for these, and they paid 85 dollars for my free shipping

cant beat that deal at all

SO what gives?!? Delivery is NOT even an option when I try and purchse this online.
Is anybody else still able to choose "Delivery" instead of "In Store Pick-up"?
And if so what city & state are you in? ( I have relatives near San Fran, CA that I may try)
Thanks in advance.

Redline, I think BB realized they were losing money on shipping so they eliminated that option.
They're shipping these from Ohio and people over at FW were saying that depending on where they lived, BB was paying as much as $20 shipping on a $20 item because they're so heavy.

BTW, I hooked these speakers up and they're really not that bad. My Boston Acoustics bookshelves put them to shame, but they were like 15 times more expensive. For $20 they're a steal, even if they break in a few years.

You could probably string a couple of dixie cups together and rig something that sounds better than a pair of KLK bookshelf speakers. I'd buy something used, but good before wasting money on these things. Then again, if you were to Ebay them and make money, that's another story. No way, I'd buy these for myself though.

These are not great quality speakers, but when $60 will buy you 6 matched speakers for surround sound, you're stupid to condemn the deal. I actually went and listened to them, and for the money - not bad at all.

Will they compare favorably to $100/200/500 a pair speakers? No.

Are they a good buy at $20? Yes.

I'm using these for a second home theater setup in the bedroom. For $10 a speaker, I can't go wrong for that purpose.

For $20 per pair? Even used, anything from one of the more respected manufacturers would cost more than that.

Seriously, $20 is less than dinner for two at Olive Garden or something.

You could use a third one as the center channel if you wanted. Might look a little funny, though.

I could...although based on what I'm hearing about the size of these things...I don't think it will sit too well on top of my tv!

I'm not much of an audiophile, but how do those KLHs compare with the $20 Jensens from CC?

frequency response range a power handling don't even compare:

klh: 50 Hz to 20 kHz
jensen: 90Hz - 18Hz

klh: 5 - 125 watts
Jensen: 48 Watts

CANCELLED!

I ordered early monday morning (about 5-6 hours before they stopped offering "free shipping". Just got the cancellation notice now.

LUCKILY I also did in-store pickup yesterday and snagged a pair (which by the way they had NOT pulled from the floor before I got there, so I could have paid online for pickup, gotten there and they'd have been out... sad sad.. that's why I hate going to the store!).

I wanted another pair and was hoping they'd fill the one online. So help me if they're magically "back in stock" next week. Local store is now OOS.

They cancelled my Rio SP50 player back in November as well ($20 after rebates) even though I ordered about 2 days before it no longer could be ordered online. They seem to be getting like Staples!
