Klinux OWNS.

I'm cooking a Microstar 694D Pro with a pair of 866's right now, and I thought, "HMM...I wonder if Klinux will work with this setup?" Sure enough, fired up, grabbed both CPU's and cranking out 4.9M Keys/s.

Is there anything this little distro can't do?

Since this is a Linux thread, I'll just post my problem here:

Ok, how come Klinux doesn't connect to the net on my machine? Is there another version I can try? i have a SOHO network card. It seem to be getting a little response from the DHCP servers, but it's still not enough to connect.

After 3 tries, it just let me in. I went to config and set everything up, and choose 0 to save and exit. How do I check the output of the client (like we see the precentage in win9x clients)?

Thanks, sorry if I'm pooping on your thread, but it seemed like a perfect oppertunity to ask all the Linux Gods my little problem with Klinux.

Ok.....what is a good Disto of Linux to learn how to use Linux on.....I downloaded ISO's for Mandrake 7.2 last night and was planning on trying it. Any other suggestions of good Distros to try?

After you've saved the config, you need to fire up the client and it will automatically provide the screen output. To do this, it is ./dnetc

Mandrake is what I use. From what I here, it's the easiest to learn on.

If Klinux got to the DHCP configuration, your network card is supported.
Otherwise it would not find your card, and would not request an IP from the DHCP server.
The "little response" as you put it, is just the three dots, showing it's calling for a DHCP server.
It'll do this three different time, before it gives up and continues booting.

Since it didn't find a DHCP server, you'll have to run "netconfig" after login in, and set your networking up manually.
type: netconfig and hit the enter key.
It'll ask you for the IP you want to assign the node.
Enter the info, and do the same for your "Netmask".
You don't really need to enter your Gateway or DNS server IPs, unless you have IP Mask & routing setup on your internet box.

Once all that is done, try and ping your PProxy box, by typing ping.
To shut ping down, hit your Ctrl C keys.
It will display your ping info.

Once all the is setup, and you have your Dnet client configured and have exited out of the Dnet config mode, you'll need to start the client by typing ./dnetc.
Then, you'll see the client working.

All that should be in the directions that came with Klinux.

I've tried Mandrake 7.2 for a couple weeks on my home box, but found it to be too bloated.
Their trying to be more like Winblow$, at the expense of speed and background processes.

I went back to Mandrake 7.1, and just upgraded the kernel to 2.2.17

I'm not trying to knock it, I just like 7.1 better.

Adul, do motherboards exist for running dual Athlon/Durons? I have heard there aren't any yet but maybe first quarter of next year. I sure would like to try one.
