I am stuck on this one. Beginning of this week, I am sure I would get the Klipsch 4.1, but talking to a friend (who has Klipsch 2.1, 4.1 and Z560), he said the Z560 is better. I did some research on both speakers and they both got great reviews. If price is not a factor, which one should I get????
I know lots of people here got good ears. Which one one is better and why? If you heard both let me know.

Please don't just vote for one because you own it.. hehe.

I like the PM 4.1 sub over the Z560. Although the Z560 sub simply overpowers the PM 4.1 sub, the Z560 sub is not as clean. The midrange on the PM 4.1 seems a little better than the midrange on the Z560. The PM 4.1 produces much brighter highs which I like (because of their horns).

But, although you don't care about the price, it has to be a factor. When I say the PM 4.1 is better than the Z560s, to my ears it's very very very insignificant. If you're willing to pay $300 for the PM 4.1, why not get 2 Z560s? I'm sure you can find them for close to $150 shipped.

If money is no object, then the Klipsch.

Just look at what everyone compares all speakers to. So the Klipsch are the ones to beat, kind of the gold standard if you will. Personally I went for the z560s, I did not have the extra $$ to spend. I am very happy with the z560s.

I've listened to both. If my Boston BA4800s died tomorrow, it would be a no-brainer to replace them with the $135 Logitech Z560s. They got good mid-range, superior to the PM4.1s, and very smooth bass. Spending $300 on the PMs is a waste. If you want to spend that much, drive down to your local Gateway Country Store and spend $250 on the Boston BA7800s. They are better than both systems in most respects.

I used to own the original Klipsch Promedia v.2-400 (the amp died :|), and I now have the Z-560 and I like the Logitech more than the Klipsch, not just because they work .

Z560 no doubt. The midrange is surprisingly better than the klipsch even though it does not have a separate driver like the Klipsch.

consider the altec lansing 641s too

They are comparable to the klipsh/logi

review of 641

<< The Australian list price for the Select 641 is the same as the list price of the Logitech Z-560. The two systems have similar overall specifications.

The Z-560 has, I think, marginally better satellite speakers (with proper screw terminals, not integrated wires), and a stereo expander circuit that sounds quite nice, and which the Select 641 lacks.

The 641 subwoofer, however, may actually be even better than the Z-560 one. The Z-560 sub is loud as all get-out - too loud, even with the bass knob turned down, for some material - and plays far deeper than most multimedia subs. But I harbour a suspicion that the 641 sub plays lower. It's a close-run thing, though; you'd really want to listen to the two of them next to each other.

IMO, Klipsch will always be on top when it comes to performance, but why pay that much more for a Klipsch when the Z560 is almost as good. If your willing to fork over the money for the 4.1 Klpisch, why not spend an extra $50 for the 5.1?

You get what you pay for with the Klipsch, the best. But, with the Z560, i think you get more bang for your buck.

If money is no object, get neither. get a receiver and some paradigms, axioms, or divas.

I read a review on IGN.com that had the z560's beating out the ProMedia 4.1's in most aspects, but as recommended above, if price were not a factor then go with a receiver and some really good home theater speakers.

If I had $200 for computer speakers I'd get the Diva Swans M200 at av123. Though, I actually went further and got a Rotel 2ch amp and JBL Studio S38 speakers.

If I could only choose between those 2 you have listed I would get the Klipsch 4.1.

If money is not a factor and you can only choose between the Klipsch 4.1 or the Logitech Z560, then I would go for the Klipsch 4.1's. I've owned both and listened to both. While the Logitech Z560 bass is a bit more powerful than the Klipsch, it is less balanced. Klipsch produces a better, cleaner sound. However, if you are on a budget, or wish to get more for your buck, get the Logitechs. And put the saved money into getting something else for your computer or a loved one.

Just read this other thread about the Z560s sub blows when playing music too loud???
Is this true or isolated case?

Quality is a factor.

Klipsch do sound better than the Z560. The ONLY reason people think it's lacking a midrange is because they dont know how to use the equalizer

I listen to the Z560 side by side against my Klipsch 4.1's and i'm definately glad i got the Klipsch. The Bass and speakers in general on the Z560 sound a bit muddy to me. With the Klipsch because of the horn the highs and mid have a crispness about them. The dual 6.5's are more than enough for bass and sound really good. The 8" sub on the z's are overpowered and it sounds like "blah blah blah". No real tone definition.

If money isn't a factory, definately the Klipsch. Theres nothing wrong with the Logitechs if you aren't an audiophile and listen to alot of music.

Jgtdragon - it's becoming more widely know now that people have owned the Logitechs for awhile. Seems alot of people have been having problems with blown speakers. Not sure what the deal is. Sounds like they are using cheap speakers and overpowering them. That'd be my guess.

The Z560s are definately better at breaking. Look around at the number of people whose have blown in less than 1 month. Even scarier, look at the number of people on their third or more set.

You know, I was fixing to say the same thing. I use the Promedia 2.1's since I do not require surround sound on my PC. Solid construction, and a smoot sounding speaker set. I just received my monster cable upgrade speaker wires (30.00) and now they really look high tech.

NEITHER!!!

Pick up a Preamplifier, a 5 Channel Amplifier, a 5.1 Dolby Digital Receiver, and some Acoustic Research HC1s. Computer gaming will never be the same, and you will be the envy of EVERYONE!

Okay, seriously though:

The Logitech Z560s sound very muddy. The subwoofer is extra boomy, so there will be times when you'll have to resort to using headphones. When you want to impress people though, this sub is hard to beat for under $300. All around they sound a bit muffled.

As for the Klipsch 4.1s. The sub has adequate power, but not as much as the Z560s. This is not the setup you want if you listen to a lot of hip hop (However, I prefer listening to my bookshelf system when I want to listen to CDs). The Klipsch sound great and low to mid range. They struggle a bit as the volume increases, and the pitch of the sound rises to a higher frequency. $300 is a bit much for getting speakers that have compromises at the extremes I enjoy most: hip hop bass, and music at high volumes.

If I were to choose though, Klipsch's overall clarity wins. The Z560s don't handle music very well, nor are the sounds produced clear in gaming applications. The Klipsch may not have as good of a subwoofer, but overall music quality is easier to enjoy, and it handles games well enough for your neighbors to complain.

But I have to stress...components are the way to go

Thanks for the votes guys. Be honest here, money does matter so the pm 5.1 is too expensive for me. The reason I put this poll is I can get the klipch about the same price as the z560, actually $25 more. Since the two cost around the same, price really isn't a factor.
