Over at Oxford PC they have a Klipsch 5.1 review, fresh off the press

I have actually been a customer of Oxford PC, and I was very satisfied with Oxford PC. They are the only custom computer manufactorer that charges great prices for hardware, almost as cheap as getting hardware from newegg and pricewatch, and since they build the computer for you, you do not have to go through the nerve racking ordeal of building the computer yourself.

I didn't post this thread mainly to give you my experience with Oxford PC, but I wanted to give you a heads up of the first Klipsch 5.1 review, which by chance was by a company I have done business with before, so I thought I'd give you my personal experience with this company as well.

You got done reading the review already? The link that takes you directly to the review is: http://www.oxfordpc.com/testlab/klipsch_5.1/klipsch_5.1_1.html

Oxford PC doesn't specialize in reviews of course, but in my opinion it's a pretty good article. I threw in that other stuff before because of my own personal experience with Oxford PC

Under Company News on the main page it says to expect the Klipsch 5.1 review in one week, but the review was just completed today

Just thought I'd bump this thread since this is the first Klipsch 5.1 review I've seen.

P.S. I sent you a PM Tunaboo, just in case you are still on the forum but not logged in.

The point is that they're still the best sounding computer speakers you can get... whether or not they connect analog.

You have to realize something - "digital" speakers still have a digital to analog conversion - it just happens in the speaker instead of in the sound card. The difference isn't really that big, particularly because the analog signal being sent from the sound card is at line level - e.g. the klipsch does the amplification.

It is true that it wouldn't be that difficult for Klipsch to offer a digital connection, but you have to think of it from their perspective - their core competencies are speakers and amplifiers, NOT D/A converters, and boy, do they make some kick-ass speakers.

My plan is to buy a Klipsch 5.1 channel system, but not for my computer - I'm going to get their reference speakers individually, coupled with a sunfire 2700 watt sub *drooooooooool* or if I can't afford that then I'll go with the (what is it, 800W?) 15" klipsch sub. Of course I can't afford ANY of that right now so it's just a pipe dream, but Klipsch speakers are, simply put, the bomb.

Who do you want to do your digital to analog conversion, your soundcard (been doing it for years) or a speaker company? Most soundcards that do it will sound better.

Decent review I thought. I only wished they would've went more in depth with inputs/outputs/connecters etc. The only thing I really got out of the review was that they sound good. Anyways, hope I see some more reviews soon.

Good point. Only problem I have is that it's hard to justify buying the 5.1s when you already got the 4.1s

You cant get DD5.1 with an analogue system. Yea they do make great speakers, but Im just going to sit tight with my promedia 4.1s until they come out with a good 5.1 system that can do DD5.1. Otherwise there isnt much point to upgrading.

I'm not very audio savy and I am looking to learn, so what is the differance between an analog connection and a digital(S/PDIF?) connection. is the digital supposed to sound better or something. How would these speakers work with a Game theater XP, concerning music, games, and DVDs. I am assuming DVDs would play in surround sound, with the center channel being the dialouge channel. But how do the speakers work for games and music?

Until there are games that can do 5.1 there is no reason to get these speakers.
And I don't believe any game company is going to try doing that because it would be almost impossible.

I can't imagine spending that much money on speakers to watch a movie on a monitor.
Do your self a favor and spend the money on real speakers for a home theater system.

The 4.1's are perfect for gaming. The 5.1's are perfect for nothing.

Well the nForce is going to have 5.1 support and Doom3 is going to get 5.1. Quake 4 may have it since they use the same engine. I figure that once an id Software game has 5.1 people will drool and other game companies will follow. Of course, it will be a while before q4 or d3 comes out.
