the 4.1s are a step up from the v2.400s please do not be tricked by the fact that the v2s are also 4.1s and you think v2 stands for version 2 or soemthing 4.1s > v2.400
then why is the 4.1 is cheaper than v2.400 ?

In case you guys haven't noticed, the v.2's do NOT say refurbished. The page linked are speakers on CLEARANCE, not a refurb page. Those expensive sets of star wars speakers arent' refurb, they're just leftover stock because who in their right mind would pay that much for those? The v.2's are what came out FIRST, then the "Promedia 4.1"'s came out, which were just a much improved version of the original set. You guys argue way too much [/quote]

oh no, I wasn't in the offensive mode, I just didn't realize it was not a refurb..

and thanks for clarifying... my head now hurt less.

I'll second the vote on an external amp setup. I can't get over how good my 1995 Aiwa NSXV3000 sounds in stereo mode. It's clear to me that software center channels sound as good as a real pc speaker center channel. If you're looking for economy, look for a good quality boom box w/detachable speakers or mini stero with rca inputs and get the appropritate cables at ratshack.

just to clarify... if you read the post... it is clear that i am implying i have the ht in my living room and pc speakers on my computer.

ok im sick of this. ok here you go... you are right yup... it is a total impossibility that i know anything about speakers or that a college students know engineers. totally impossible that anyone could know anything about speakers or at least that anyone could know anything more than you. i dont own the ht, klipschs, logitechs, the little pc speaker in my computer or else anything including a computer and the keyboard i am typing this on. logitech pwns everyone else in everything including things they havent made yet but will make in the future. you are apparently god and know more than everyone else. logitech shoudl come out with cpus and gpus because they would pawn intel, amd, nvidia, and ati. you win... i hope you have a nice life with your inferiority complex.

Actually, I never argued with you that Logitech was any good. I am just letting you know that you can make a point without lying. I, too, am a college student and I am interested in audio, although I don't breathe it like some people around me. I page through various magazines and read a lot on sin and other boards and I just had to say that it is very unlikely that your friend ran tests on multimedia speakers in the labs. It just goes back to the 99.9% of statistics people give online are BS. Seriously though, I understand the klipsch sets are better for the discerning ear, but as was stated many times in this thread, most people are more than happy with their logitech set-ups so I will leave it up to the consumer to choose for themselves as his or her opinion is what ultimately matters.

And, for the record, I was interested in your 2 amazing HT setups (when did it become one?) because I, as a college senior who relies on engineering internships during the summer along with small IT and programming gigs during the year for my cash, am still amazed that you have the cash to afford not one, but two real, stereophile ranked quality (well, you never said everything was stereophile ranked, but that is the impression I get from ULTRA HIGH END)setups for your apartment?!? Do you make a bagillion dollars? It breaks the bank for me to buy $350 HD-650s and even a simple amp, hehe. I could not even concieve, at the moment, of being able to afford your purported promedia 4.1s, 5.1s, z-560s and z-680s!

You could be telling the truth, who knows? But, as most people who frequent any forum have seen, there is a good chance you just bent the truth a bit to sound smarter than your average bear.

i cant afford kick @$$ ht, but people have parents... and my parents just happened to move back to taiwan. i get to "watch" the house until the end of eternity and the ht came with it. i thought i posted what kind of setup i had here is the gist of it; all axiom speakers, all denon components (i am a denon "fanboy" except for an old pioneer laserdisc. if you really want the specs i can post those up along with model and serial numbers.

and i didnt decide to buy all those computer speakers in one day. ive owned the 4.1 since forever, got the 560s cuz there was some crazy deal on them, bought the 5.1 to replace the 4.1's a couple years later (4.1's on my server now), and my girlfriend thought the 680s were "cute" so i bought those for her.

some people actually do know what they are talking about. might want to think about talking to them or finding out how they know what they say they know before you publically call them a liar.

for home theatre I have infinity reference .3's in the front, .2's in the back with a matched infinity cc-2 center channel, the base is provided by a paradigm 10" subwoofer and the audio comes from a Yamaha receiver (the very first one with DTS encoding that didn't cost $2500) I think it sounds great for movies, but any audio, even dvd-audio doesn't sound very good. I wish I could afford the Klipsch 5.1's and this is a great price; but I think the only speakers in my budget are the z-5300s, which don't sound that bad, I mostly listen through headphones at my computer anyway.

I dont use them much but they seem to work well when I do. Theyre too loud and I have to use headphones, lol

anyone else notice though, that Klipsch has an awfully large number of refurbs? makes me wonder if its a good thing I dont use my 4.1's often

Huh? Usually when parts make it to the refurm market it's a direct indication of their popularity and quality. My 4.1 has served me better than any other set of computer speakers I've had, and I don't use headphones.
