I have a 5.1 Klipsch ProMedia setup with 1/8" miniplugs (i.e. small stereo headphone plug size, 3 in all). One 1/8" plug is for center/front, one is for rear and one is for the subwoofer/amplifier. I just got a new HDTV and a set-top Progessive Scan JVC DVD Player that are connected with Component (RGB) cables. I have a PC next to all of this with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Pro and I want to figure out a way to use what I've got to get 5.1 audio from the DVD Player to the PC's Audigy 2/Klipsch ProMedia speakers. Maybe I am just overlooking something, but I cannot for the life of me think of how to go abotu doing this. I was considering connecting the 1/8" plugs into the sound card, then sending an optical stream from the DVD Player to the external Audigy 2 box's optical input and having it play that way? Am I right or will that not work for some reason that evades me?
Thanks to anyone who shares their time and ideas. I'm really excited to get this stuff working and experience ESPN HD football tonight! Hehe
