Yeah you can but not with the same flexibility as with "conventional" speakers. The ProMedia's are meant to run off a "pre-amp" signal(usually 0-2.0 volts)that drives the built-in amps of the speakers. Unless your receiver has a pre-amp outputs to it's own amps inputs(usually connected with "U" clips!) you will have to use the tape outputs to drive the ProMedia's and adjust the volume at the speakers because that signal is "fixed"(read not variable). I know many people ar combining their computer-home-surround systems in to one with their computer acting as a receiver. You will need something like a "Creative SB Platinum Live" to do this for it has different inputs(dvd,tape, etc.)and surround decoder! Check reviews for sound cards/surround decoders to get a better idea of what you seem to be aiming for. Good Luck!
