here's a review:

That's funny advice, given the fact that the only thing you put in your initial topic post was "Are these speakers any good?" You would have done yourself a favor by using your own advice and searching to find out if ecost was any good.

Absolutely, if you have a 5.1 soundcard (or a receiver with pre-amp outputs). Most 5.1 soundcards use three stereo minijacks to put out the six channels - one jack for front left/right, one for rear left/right, and one for center/subwoofer. The idea is to hook the 4.1 system to the front and rear outputs. Then, you get a stereo minijack to dual mono splitter (example) . One of the mono outputs will be the center channel, the other is the subwoofer. Once you figure out which of the two is the center channel output, then you hook up a mono-to-stereo adapter to get the mono signal going to both of your speakers (example). Your 2.1 speakers plug into this.

Then you set the soundcard to treat all five outputs as "large speaker", so full bass frequencies get routed to both subwoofers, and the "subwoofer" output of the soundcard is not used. Splitting the center channel might weaken the signal a little bit - but you have separate volume controls, and it's easy to tweak the speakers until everything sounds right. I've done this using Logitech z560s, and the result is well worth it! Full timbre-matched surround sound for movies and gaming.

Hope this helps.

p.s. I don't endorse Rat-Shack products, their website just makes it easy to find examples.

I wanted advice from personal experiences.

Thanks a lot for reminding me of this. I forgot about that some sound cards do this. I have a Soundmax....going to go through the options to find out (in the drivers). Or is this done at the hardware level?

For the OP - I've heard these personally; these speakers are accurate and LOUD. I thought they were a little aggressive in the 1000hz range but that's Klipsch. I considered Klipsch home speakers in 1991 before I bought my JBL L60Ts. The only thing the Klipsch home speakers (in that price range) were lacking was a decent amount of low end. Add a sub to a pair (or more) of Klipsch satellites with those horn tweeters and you've got a good combo. The reviews from a few years back stated that these speakers were comparable to true home stereo speakers, which, at the time, was truly a compliment. I would snag a set but I would also get kicked out of my condo if I bought these.

I decided to give these a try.
I have had Z560s for 2 years but just this week one of the rear channels died.
Here's what my order came to: (Apparently they have a warehouse in TN so I had to pay tax)

Subtotal: $119.99
Ground Service Shipping: Free
Handling & Processing Fee: $5.95
Sales Tax: $10.39

TOTAL: $136.33

I'm curious about that myself. Even though I said I wouldn't bite due to their Reseller Ratings, it's sooooooooo tempting!
I assume the 90 day warranty is through Klipsch?

I have 2.1's and 4.1's connected to my Asus A7V8X-Deluxe with the Soundstorm APU. I got the the 4.1's from Klipsch's site refurbished in November. I didn't use a splitter so one of the satellites doesn't work on my 5.1 setup. I think I'll try that. These speakers have no competition in the PC hardware world. They are basically home theatre speakers with mini jacks on them. Seriously, these are the best. Usually they cost too much, but this price is right. By the way I couldn't find anything wrong with mine. Had to get on Klipsch's site to get setup paperwork and such (which I didn't need but wanted on hand).

Buy, plug in, play, make appointment with audiologist. That's all there is to it!

Looks like they keep replenishing the stock once it runs out. Hmmmm, I hope I actually receive these speakers and that this isn't just some marketing scheme.

Got mine today. They look virtually new. Will report later on sound test. No manual included, just a wireing diagram. Warranty simply states 90 days, and you have to return them to the place where you bought them, ie; eCost, not Klipsch.

My son just said UPS dropped these off at the house!!!! WOOOHOOO! Can't wait to get home! Did anyone buy the extended warranty on these? I read that the old 5.1s had a problem with dying after a year, so I bought the warranty.

Just got these today from ecost. Good news and bad. Klipsch only included one speaker cable, so I can only use as 2.1 for now. Very dissapointing! However, even the 2.1 set up totally rocks with my ipod. This was definitely worth $125.

Thanks nexc429 for the hot deal!

You can buy them at Radio Shack.

oh ok. I only really use headphones, didn't know if computer speaker cables were generic or not.

Grrr, 72$ to ship (overnight, only way that they will ship to alaska), they DONT sell warranties in alaska, and it turns out that I'm gonna have to call them to ship it another method, if they are even willing.. It's shady, but I think that I'll go with it..want them bad at this price.
