How are the SWS's??? Are they better than the subs that came with the Klipsch 5.1's? How do they fair as a home theater solution, good value???

Not sure how these compare to the PM 5.1 sub, but I intend on using mine in a budget HT setup. I think for the price, your not going to do any better. Even if you spring for 2 (which i'm seriously considering after I hear my first one), you'd be hard pressed to find something more impressive. Mine just came in yesterday, but didn't want to wake the house at 11:30pm. I'll report back. Initial demo's looked really promising though, but I do have a small room (14X10). Hey, the free t-shirt is pretty spiffy too!

I have to disagree with you, the GMX 5.1's actually do NOT rock if you play PC games and have anything that is NOT the nforce2 motherboard sound. If you have an Audigy 2 or any other creative sound card you will be sorely disappointed. They did not make these for PC gamers. Console gaming would be fine with them.

Do yourself a favor and get the Logitech Z-680's.

WOW. Initial response is in. For 100 bucks, this sub is unstoppable! I did the obligatory U-571 and Matrix demo's. Incredible. Not one ounce of distortion. For it's size it does provide a very nice low rumble. It's not going to be levitating any couches or anything, but you'll definately know it's there I want to play around with positioning in the next few days, but need a longer subwoofer cable. Any recommendations? Need something 25+ ft. Right now it's just against a wall. I'm very curious how much room gain i'll get by moving into the corner. I am really surprised at how damn good this thing sounds! I must say, the little remote level control is pretty handy too. I plan to have these behind the couch, so it will be nice to be able to adjust without going all double-jointed to reach the controls. My main use is for movies, so not having a fully adjustable crossover is not an issue. My Yammie will handle all the crossover duties with the LFE channel from the DD or DTS soundtracks. It's very hard resisting not ordering one more, but I really think one will do just fine. I don't want the bass to overpower everything else. I like my sound balanced, and this sub does that perfectly. If your looking for a very nice budget sub, this is it! Oh yeah, there is one downside. The LED on the remote volume pod is almost blindingly bright in a dark room. Be careful!

For anyone thats interested, here is my setup:

Yamaha 5650 receiver (I love this thing!)
Toshiba 3750 DVD player
Infinity SM Center
Infinity SM 82 for fronts
Infinity SM 62 for rear L/C/R
Klipsch SWS
JVC 27" TV (can't wait for tax return time! hehehe...)

[edit] Forgot to note, only sub I can directly compare this too is my Altec sub from my ADA 880's. (8" rear ported sub, but only 40watts RMS) Actually, there is no comparison. I can't give a good comparison to the 5.1 sub though, as I've never heard it. I do have a set of PM 2.1's at work. Those are one of the main reasons I chose this sub. The sub on my 2.1's is incredible. I always get comments about how good they sound. Of course, I agree 100%, they are the best sounding PC speakers. (Klipsch PM line in general) [/edit]

so Tom, I think the 5.1 sub and the 2.1 sub are identical (not sure) ... how does the 2.1 sub compare to the SWS? are they identical or is one better?

The klipsch PM ultra 5.1 sub and the regular PM 5.1 subs are much different beasts.
the PM ultra 5.1 sub blows this out of the water, but put the combination together and you have something beautiful.

Yes the PM 5.1 ultra sub is much better than the SWS. The Ultra sub is a beast and houses dual 8" drivers in a massive and well made slotted cabinted. The SWS, while no slouch, houses a single 8" driver and isn't quite the beast the Ultra sub is.

Just try adding 999 of them to your cart, you'll then see how many are left. This also works with Newegg.

Has anyone here bought and received one of the SWS subs yet? I noticed that if I use the line level RCA in, it's not as loud as when I convert the RCA from my receiver to the phono input and use that. Anyone else notice this, or played around with this?

Thanks,

Tom

[edit] Looks like there are 25 left. I'm not sure why you guys are seeing 999. Wierd...

If you bought all 25, the subtotal would only be $2499.75!! hehehe... [/edit]

Are you actually adding it to your cart? Or just clicking update price from the product page? Try adding it to your cart. It should bring up another page with your shopping cart. That's where I see the updated quantity.

I have the SWS sub attached via line out on the Klipsch Sub, via rca to the SWS, I have no issues with it, tho I havn't run it thru a reciever like you have.
