Klipsch v2.400

My Klipsch v2.400's were bought used approximately 2 months ago. Their previous owner had used them for roughly one and half years. I have just noticed that when raising the volume on the atual preamp to more than half causes a fair amount of static which is clearly audible to any ear. The static is especially noticeable when playing movies that need more volume than normal day to day applications or even music. I'd like to know what's wrong and if anyone can help me with this problem. I checked the connections and re-inserted the connections. But the problem still exists. Help Please!

common problem with these models....just get the new control pods for them..around $50....

I have the same ones (got them when they first came out).

I only get static when I turn the pots (main volume only really)... not after I let go of the pot.

yup old pods crackle when dirt or something gets in or something. don't have a keyboard with volume controls? b4 i upgraded to the 4.1's i used my keyboard to control volume, more convenient the twisting knobs well i still use my keyboard

yeah, i bought them new and have the same problem. altought it could be a result of playing them extremely loud (busted sub and sats that won't play louder than 1/2 turn w/o distortion )

any way to repair the problem without replacing the preamp?
