know any good free softphones?

i was considering using temaspeak or ventrilo for my mom to talk to her aunt in europe but I figure there's gotta be some better software out there dedicated to this purpose.. something to talk to someone else over the internet- no phones involved, and more importantly- no crazy phone charges.

know any good software you'd recommend?

Not used it in a long while, but what about skype? It's free to call from Computer to Computer.

MSN and Yahoo has something like this built in too... and i would imagine so does AIM.
