wonder if you could pm to staples and use a $50 off coupon? I see they have it on their webpage but they do they have it in store? You wouldn't get a 32 mb compact flash card with it but a 32 mb card is kinda worthless because it says it could only take 24 pictures at default image quality mode

But remember, you don't get the travel bag or the 32MB CF card + you have to pay Tax at Staples. The Amazon deal is better. Heck the travel bag makes it worth it:

The package bundled with Kodak Travel Kit, with carrying case, rechargeable batteries, and international battery charger

I've been looking for a 4 MP digicam for a few weeks......how does this stack up against other camers for photo quality, ease of use and dependability?

You don't feel the quality from Kodak cameras. very cheapy plastic feel instead. If you grab it, you know that it's more like a toy.

ya this looks like a pretty basic camera, its basically like the cheapest ones you can get except with a 2x optical zoom.. probably great for people looking to get started with digital cameras.. and 4 megapixel is nice but probably overkill for a lot of people, just my opinion. Of course $300 really isn't that much of an investment, as long as you use it a good bit to get your money out of it.

I have the Kodak DC4800 and love it. I've noticed there's a cost associated with optical zoom. The Fuji Fine Pix has two model almost identical except one it 100 buck more since its has 6x optical instead of 3x.

I PM'ed this camera with Staples and used the $50 coupon. Got it for $268.78 shipped. Plus I went to Fry's and got myself a 128MB Compact Flash for $39.99+tax for a total of about $310.00 and I got 125MB instead of just 32MB. All in all, I'm quite satisfied.

There is a thread at FW about this too.

You can also order direct from OD with a 15 percent off 100 coupon if you don't want to hassle with the PM. You just pay about 5 bucks more.

Except the S200 is more portable and has better image quality.

cnet gave this one a medium grade. Good for beginners but thats it. I am looking out/ waiting for a sale on the Fuji 3800. It's only 3 MP but with a 6x optical zoom, you can get closer to the object. If you like taking pictures from a distance, I would go for a better zoom than MP any day. What's the use of having a high MP image when you are only going to have to zoom it digitally and crop the image to get closer. Right now, I have a Fuji A101 1.3 MP and it's fine for up close but forget about taking more distant or detailed pictures.

I got an email advertising this camera for 299.99 from office depot. I used the 15% off of $50+ and got it for $254.96 + tax. I also bought the HP 7150 photo printer for 149.99 and got a $50 bundled rebate off any digital camera and the HP photo printer.

Looked like this:

299.99 Camera
149.99 Printer

449.98 Total
-67.50 %15 off

382.48
-50.00 Rebate

$ 332.48 Final total (Tax not included, but shipping is free)

Price is up to $329 hm....no, now it is $299....weird. The link posted above takes me to a $329 page....searching yields $299. Ah the travel kit bumps it the $30, I guess.

I have this camera and I have been pleasantly surprised by it's performance. It does only have 2x optical zoom, but it has something that few other 4mp cameras have....it's freakin easy to use. Your grandma could use this thing. It works as simply as a cheapo camera, but all the cool features are there if you want them. It's fun putting the pictures on the tv with the supplied cable too...not that this feature is rare, but it is so easy to do with this cameras no nonsense menus. And it still takes awesome pictures if you turn the rez down to 3mp. I've been using 3 and 4mp with varying compression and the 4mp looks really good at 8.5x11 from my ultra cheap epson photo 820.
