The Sam's Club deal is not a bad one. You get a second battery and a CF 64 MB instead of the 18 MB card. Price is $480. They have a new bar code sticker over the original one, I guess you have to take that one off to get the rebate. You bar code needs to have the cat# 146 5087.

that is the dc4800ez which isnt eligible for the rebate. But if they are selling that for $480, it is one heck of a price.

Anyway.. I just bought it from necxdirect. with a 50 coupon. final comes to 475 shipped. And I bought it with Click Citi. I think after the rebate period is over. The price might drop alittle more. I will do the price protection thing then.

It might be the EZ( the box does not state that), but again you can take the sticker with the new bar code off, below is the one which I believe will be eligible for the rebate.
If you check the coupon, it says valid only for cat# 146 5087, thats exactly what the bar code cat# is below the sticker, the receipt you get from Sam's says only camera.

People who got this camera, how is autofocus in low light working for you? I've upgraded my DC4800 to the new 1.04 firmware, but still have trouble getting AF to work in dim lighting. The green LED is flashing when I try to lock the focus, although the pictures come out more or less in focus... Weird.

Does anyone have any experience with the compact flash memory. I'd like to buy a 64MB card, but not sure which brand is best. I don't know if the camera is as picky as a computer when it comes to memory.

Yes firmware was updated prior to pics taken. I use a sandisk 64 mb card. works great, never any problems. Good luck pricematching
Some staples are a bit more lenient... it all depends on who you talk to!!! =)

As an owner of the best autofocus cameras since their inception, I have to say that there has never been an autofocus system that is good in dim light. That's just the way they are.

You should get a book by Upton and London named Photography. It will teach you eveything you need to know about photography. You should be able to get it from Barnes &amp; Noble and use a coupon from tech. You can learn how to use your camera like a professional in simple English.

I have used three brands of CF memory...Kodak, Viking, and one that eludes me. All three were fine. I don't think CF is picky at all.

I am just fascinated with the small size. The size make me want to carry em all the time. I am not saying kodak4800 is big. Canon is small that you can slip in your pocket anywhere you go. I will never cary camcorder too. You can want to enjoy your time when you on vacation etc.

Again, Kodak has some nice features that I want too. decision..decision...

Great thread. I recently went in to local Staples B$M in No. CA and got them to pm Beach Camera that i had printed up when the price was $462 even though on the day I purchased it the price was $489. When I first went in there, the sales clerk said the manager would give me the $40 off too for the coupon from fatwallet. But when the manager rang me up he said because it said staples.com I could not use this in the store so I told him I was not going to buy the camera. I could not take it anymore and just broke down and bought the camera anyway. Anyone have suggestions on this or another way to get them to accept the coupon?

Are you all pricematching stores that are close to the Staples you are getting the camera from? I am in Washington State, and I think the Staples manager would just laugh at me if I took an ad in from some store in NJ, NY or even CA. Is the $40 off Coupon different from the one on Fat Wallet that says it ended on 3/9/01? If it is can someone PM me a copy of it. I still might go in and see if I can get the Manager to do the pricematch.

Staples Price match policy is to match ANY legitimate low price. They will match a website low price as long as the item is in stock and you include shipping or they do the $5.00 for shipping if it cannot be determined. Your mileage may vary here depending on the staff on duty. But the bottom line is Staples guarranties to match lowest legitimate price, it does not need to be B&amp;M. Sears will match other B&amp;M stores. A new thought here, and maybe a new record low price: Sears is having a 10% off, even sale price, promotion this weekend. How about a Beach Camera PM at Sears = $462 - $46 (10%) - $100 rebate = $312 + tax????? Anyone want to try it for the new record??? I already got mine from PhotoAlley a while ago.
