OK I bit the bullet and found shipping cost on DigitalSolutions (had to put in my CC#). The final cost after overnight shipping is 509. So with 40 off coupon it's (509 + tax) - 40. Comes out to 505-rebate here. Still not too bad.

Also, try a small Staples. I also had called the 800-3staples number and they said same. That they charged a flat $10 for shipping if it was not on page printout! Seems like you went to store with a bad policy.

They aren't charging overnight shipping...but when the B&M does a pricematch they match the price of the vendor's overnight shipping price. HOWEVER, you do bring up a good point! Maybe I'll do it over the phone! Then they can't do that overnight shipping crap since they take 3-5 days to ship it. Hmmmmmmm.

I can't beleive this camera. I just got back from a trip and took approzimately 80 pix on a single charge including turning the camera on/off numerous times, some flash pictures, and lots of zooming. It normally goes into review mode after every picture, but I've found the power-save mode defintely extends the battery life. Picked up a 64Meg card and it has capacity for nearly 200 pix at 3.1 high compression. This IS the greatest thing since sliced bread!

I have a 64MB card...and it only holds 133 3.1 high compression. Any ideas or thoughts?

The number on the camera is an approximation of how many pictures can be taken. Usually it turns out you can take more than what it says.

One thing I just noticed...

I installed the ver 1.1 software ONLY. I never used the CD. I then added firmware 1.04 without a problem.

My problem is that I can use this a drive only. I mean that when I look in explorer I see images and can open them in PSP or picture it.

BUT, if I try an acquire, it says it can not find camera. Do you think it is because I never used the CD?

Also, my PSP is ver 6. Is USB better supported in 7? I only see comm ports in 6. Also, why did it also put DC290 software on my system?

you dont need the cd since that has an older version of the software. i only tried accessing the camera as a drive before i sent it back for a replacement and i dont use psp so i dunno about your acquire problem. the 1.1 software also installed dc280 on my pc as well, i'm not sure why it did that either..

Well, I will upgrade to PSP 7 and let you all know.

I do know that we did not get all the software by using the 1.1 download only. I know that by looking at the docs on the CD. There is some panorama software on the cd!

P.S. I will be anxious to see what Kodak says about my suggestion for making the COMPLETE 1.1 distribution available for those with Fast connections.

So far outdoor pics are GREAT!

Just in case anyone was waiting for still lower prices. Even though the $100 Rebate lasts untill May 5th. The current Staples $40 of $200 expires April 13th. So you should probably buy before then, unless you want to take your chances with a new coupon turning up.

FYI

PSP 7 does not see the dc4800. I even installed the direct camera access 5.01. No dc4800 on there. Picture It will not see it either.

This is not a big deal as it DOES work just accessing the camera as a drive.

Hey people, does anyone have the dc4800 doing an acquire? Even the Kodak software to create a panorame will not ACQUIRE. Everything keeps thinking this is a dc290.

Well, I believe that this is just how it is for now. SO, we need to just use camera as a drive. Actually, so what! All else works and at least as a DRIVE all software can see it.

I suspect that copying to a test area on Hard drive is faster, too. Just need to remove the mp...never mind.

P.S. I am impressed with the PANORAMA software they give you. Stitched two shots of our yard! Looks great!
