*********** WARNING NOT ALL DC4800 r valid for REBATE !!! ***************

Copy of Kodak's rebate form.
To get your $100 rebate check:
1) Purchase a DC4800 Zoom Digital Camera between March 2,2001 and May 5, 2001.
2) Save your original sales receipt.
3) Fill in the requested information above.
4) Cut out the entire universal product code(UPC/barcode) from the camera box (cat no. 146 5087) <---<<
5) Mail this coupon, the UPC/barcode from the camera box
and a copy of the sales receipt before June 5, 2001 to the
address shown at right.
All rebate requests must be postmarked by 6/5/01. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks to receive and blah blah blah.....

See LTB's post in other thread here about this camera 4800 thread LINK
or read the copy here

<< Make sure you don't get the DC4800EZ bundle, which includes the extra battery, etc. It's a different product number. The rebate is not valid on that number! I called Kodak and confirmed that the rebate is only when you purchase the camera alone. It's a shame, too.
With Computers4Sure bundle price of $599, plus ebates (2%), it would have been a sweet deal.
Oh, well. Best i've seen so far is the pricematch at Buy.com etc for around $380. Anyone got it better yet?
>>

ALSO SEE ctk9090 POST HERE it is about the 8th from this one !!!!!!!

Also remember that Amazon.Com had 3 all three models listed with the rebate. They have since corrected this error. 1.If you did purchased one of the other 2 models during typo. 2.Have had it delivered already. 3.U r real nice to CSR they will give u a 100.00 AMAZON GC.

They did the same for the 99.00 SB 5.1 typo.

hey guys.. I've looked through this thread like 100 times and I'm still confused. First, I don't know much about digital cameras although all the reviews of this product I've read have been very positive. Is this considered a high end digital camera?

I live in NJ like HawkeyeNJ, so is the best deal to do what he did and actually do the PM at the store? If so, I'm not on staples e-mail list, how can I get that $40 off coupon?

Thanks for helping out a newbie.
Who am I to resist such a great deal?

Just a FYI. I took these pictures today with it. They have been cropped, resized and saved as JPEG in photoshop at medium to low quality settings. They are amazing quality straight out of the camera. They were taken with all the settings on auto and medium or so quality settings on the camera. I'm a very happy man after buying this.

Great pictures!

I just checked my order. It shipped via FedEx and should arrive tomorrow. I got in on the photoalley deal at a net cost of $377.79.

How many pictures are you getting to a battery charge? I'm looking for a good deal on the quick charger now. I'm also curious about the compact flash cards. Do you think a larger card is in order?

I think I got over 20 pictures on the 16meg card and that was with a bunch of different quality settings. The battery I heard was good for around 40 or 50 shots if you don't use the LCD much which I didn't.

This place here http://www.dpreview.com/ has a great forum for Kodak owners.

Folks,

Might need to be careful where you pick this up. Per this post at dpreview, SAM's and Walmart are carrying non-US versions of the camera for which the rebate is not applicable...

Hawkeye,

Please PM me with staples coupon email reconstitution procedure, I uh, seem to have deleted mine ...

It would be great if I could get the coupon from you. My dad really wants this camera and I'm responsible for a good price

Got mine about a week ago and I love it! Had already ordered a 128mb CF card for it and I believe about 160 pix at 3.1 compressed will fit on it. The most impressive thing about it is the BATTERY LIFE! I kept hearing that it was the achille's heel of this camera but so far I've gotten about 150 pix off my latest charge with about 1/3 of them using the red-eye flash and the battery life still shows as "good"! I haven't been using the LCD except for the 4-second display that shows up after you snap each shot.

I picked up a 128mb Kingston CF card for about $120 shipped.

Got the spare battery/charger + portable tripod + CF reader (which you don't really need - the camera's fast) for $108 at Amazon (20 off 100 coupon).

Highly recommend this camera, I think you'll be very happy if you pick one up. It's so easy to use that I've taken about 200 pix, all on the "auto" setting since I've gotten it and all of them have come out (except for the occassional blur due to my shaky hands). This is my first real digicam & I wanna thank all you guys for the great deals.

CompUSA is giving away 32 MB Flash with this camera.. I tried to PM with beach camera, but the manager said that 462 is way below the purchase price of the camera and he can't match this price....??!!
If you could get the price matched ($462) and get a 32MB flash free.. that will be a cool deal.

HAWKEYE-
If it isn't too much trouble, I'd love a print version of the staples coupon too. I usually get their e-mails, but can't find that one. I have the camera- bought it at the end of Dec. (sniff) before all the deals, but my friend wants one.It is a great camera-easy to use, even for a neophyte like me!
Thanks

Here's a question I have since I am TOTALLY digicam illiterate. If you take pictures at 3.1mp the resolution is 2160x1440 which is much higher than anyone runs their monitors. So after you transfer them to your HD is that what you guys view them at? It seems like it would be a pain to have to scroll up, down, and sidewase to look at the pic instead of it fitting on one screen. Second, would a 2160x1440 image fit on a 8.5x11 piece of paper? Lastly, how costly is it to get film developed and do most of you just store the pictures on your computers?

Here is the rest of Marvick319 post .... may b interesting 2 c replies here..about this software.

I use Irfanview as my exclusive JPEG viewer. Not only will it open EVERY image file in a folder, it will go full screen (double click in the middle of the viewer) and allow you to move through photos by clicking your mouse. Right=forward Left=back.

I also use it for batch conversions and minor image tweaking.

BEST OF ALL, IT'S FREEWARE, 708KB TO DOWNLOAD AND A POWERFUL RESOURCE

Don't forget to download and install all the plug-ins, they are FREE also.

Backup plan worked!! Phoned customer support (800-3STAPLE) to make sure they had stock at my local outlet. The support inventory showed 5 units, but I had them call the store to verify, good thing 2, as there was only 1 left. Had them hold it for me, waited anxiously to see someone post a last minute $450 PM op, but couldn't take it anymore... printed out both the Abe's and the BeachCamera DC4800 pricing pages AND **IMPORTANT** the info from their respective 'About Us' pages that clearly show an image of a B&M storefront! *Hid the Beach Camera info in my pocket to be used only as a last resort

They tried to tell me they were going to have to PM the shipped charges until I challenged it since this was just a web printout of a B&M location. Manager said fine, they called up to verify pricing, and all set.

They matched the ABE's price of $469.99, added in a $40 coupon, with $100 rebate, NET cost is 329.99 + NJ tax!

Way to go folks! Now we just need to work another sweetie for a pair of 128MB of CompactFlash, Spare Battery/Charger Package and the Lens Kit!!

Any ideas, send em over!!!

No worries, I never would've thought to get up off my @$$ and go thru B&M if it hadn't been for your posts! LOL!! Of course the deal doesn't look as good on the receipt with the tax and the MIR still to be dealt with ...

On another note, can I use the Staples online Rebate system if I didn't order online??
