The Jacksonian would say:
Fxck the UN.

The Wilsonian would say:
Maybe he's right.

I say, he has a right to his opinion.

I doubt Annan would say anything like that, he is too clever to make mistakes like that; if would be a HUGE diplomatic incident.

Kofi, Kofi, Kofi, what are you saying? You are just a mouthpiece of the UN. And, what benefit has the UN been for the past 10 or so years?

...UN is now interfering in our local affair. They should concetrate on what they are expert in doing...which is nothing. They cannot even investigate properly the Iraq Oil for Food anomaly/corruption.:|

The UN is the corruption, they are like a cancer. I don't trust them at all.

right, Kofi is the same guy who oversaw the oil-for-palaces program. Why doesnt Kofi apologize to the Iraqis for all that money that went to Saddam's palaces instead of going for food? or hospitals

If he really did say that it doesnt surprise me. The guy wants to bring us under the rule of the UN. John Kerry is just the kind of guy that will allow something as idiotic as that to happen.

Oh I don't know ... we used various UN Resolutions as a (false) legal basis for going to war in Iraq. Kofi is just setting the record straight.

Way to divert the topic, hmmmm? Okay, I'll play your little game. Kofi would clearly be the one to know when the UN Charter was violated or not. Or do you want to go talk to Bush's lawyers? You know, the ones who deemed the Geneva conventions were outdated and didn't apply in the WoT and led to the torture and murder of U.S.-held prisoners? The same lawyers who thought it was OK to hold enemy POWs indefinitely without trial? With no rights whatsoever. Oh yeah, the U.S. has a lot of credibility left after Abu Grahib, NO WMDs in Iraq, NO Osama, NO plan for the peace in Iraq. What little credibility we have left will evaporate once Iraq explodes into a civil war. Did you check out the National Intelligence Estimate that came out this week?

Are you suggesting we strictly abide by the Geneva Conventions? What should our troops do if someone in a mosque is shooting them, taking hostages, executing civilians? Geneva IS outdated, because we're the only ones with ANY regard for the rules in this conflict. If a lawyer disagrees with this assessment, then I'd fire him because he's an idiot.

and that is what should make the US the good guy in this conflict, if as it seems to be that the US is dismissing the geneva conventions about rules of war then the line becomes very oh so blurry and puts the US in the same catagory as those they are fighting

It is in every country's long term interest to uphold Geneva Conventions and follow international low.

Only an ignorant individual can say "screw international law" and at the same time cry foul when his country men are having their heads cut off.

IMO, Annan is spineless and lacks the courage or insight to lead anything.

Sure he has a right to opine, however, I think he'd like to see more (many) american soldiers in blue hats under his personal direction. May it never be so!!

Right, not the bastion of integrity and honor that President Cheney is. I guess accusations like this would weigh more if we weren't being led around by the king of corrupt corporate goons.

More like so we don't uncover even more evidence of how corrupt Annan and the UN really are. Anyone remember "Oil for food". Annan has no business making such a statement. That is foreign interference with our elections in which he has zero standing in this country.
