Like everything else, it all depends. If you are looking for top quality, forget it. However, if you are wanting a small footprint monitor, which does 1280X1024 for general business applications, this is a is a very good price at $300. I bought one (paid more) at CUSA 3 months ago and it works fine. Saying that, I also worked a deal on an Samsung 171V on Black Friday using the 10% coupon at BestBuy (had to do some talking with the national CSR desk, though) and the Samsung puts the Kogi to shame.
One negative, I am still waiting for a $100 rebate. There was a "problem" when I submitted...thank you TCA(not to be trusted at all)...but should be receiving any day now.
I've tried playing Quake III on the Kogi and it seems OK but I'm not a big gamer anymore. I use it in a dual display config with a Samsung 950p CRT. Wish Samsung still made the 950P, great monitor.
But I digress, back OT...for $300 AR, the Kogi is a good deal for a 17" LCD. The display is more than adequate, very bright and contrasty. It is not a top line LCD panel but it beats the crap out of a CRT for most tasks. The built-in speakers are tinny but are a great space saver if sound is unimportant. At the time, I purchased, I compared it to other 2nd tier LCD panels and thought the Kogi was the best, considerably better than the MicroTek and Envision.
Just remember though when you go shopping for deals, TANSTAAFL...There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. But we can sometimes find some pretty good stuff on the cheap!
Update: Rec'd $100 rebate so I'm good on my deal.
