Now do you see, the only people that make reference to it in comparision to water, are owners, who dont know what the true potental of water is.

If that company made claims against water, it would get absolutely crushed.



u guys can listen to my advice on TEC and h2o cooling all you want. But stuff like this only proves i was correct the first time

Yes, this is true. Fishing boat decks take advantage of this principle. Koolance always sucked in my mind. Not once did I see a killer-app product.

But its to expensive, and a PA.120.3 will beat its ass.

Howard, this is when your alu gets eaten by the copper. This later on forms a little hole, which will leak. In essense its like a tooth cavity. Corrosion will eat the alu and make a cavity. This is also why i tell everyone to say away from ALU, if your using copper.

Or if your using alu, stay away from copper. IE zalman. My cousin had a pin hole cavity in his reserator. Wasnt a good sight.

Interesting that only a pinhole is formed. I won't worry about it, since if I ever decide to water cool (not likely) I'll have my trusty galvanic series with me. Did I ever mention sacrificial zinc anodes? I think I did.

lol... yes and because of you, i gave alu tops one last chance.

My GTX is alu top. However the inside of the top is zinc plated colbalt. Military grade.

Well, i'll let you guys know if and when my top gets eatten like the old MCW 6000 series.

I'm not sure a zinc plating would be enough. Take it apart once in a while to check.

It will usually corrode at a defect (or a discontinuity in the passive film) so that's why it's usually just a pinhole. Leave it long enough though and it will get bigger.

Funny you mentioned galvanic corrosion............well, funny in that I just replaced the sacrifical anode on my outboard motor. While it's (the motor) mostly used in fresh water and galvanic corrosion isn't a real problem, we do take it out to salt marshes and estuaries a few times each spring and summer.

Anyway, just a stray random thought..........and I've always wondered why mixed metal cooling loops don't utilize a sacrifical anode in-line somewhere. Guess there would be the problem of where the zinc is going to.............

because if done right, you wouldnt require one. A proper watercooling setup has no alu in it at all. The only other metal that would be included, is most likely brass, and the chrome plated barbs.

Also people who do mix metal and would require a sacrafical anode, are complete noobs. And i highly doubt they would even know what a sacrafical anode is.
