If Ohno did what Kim did in South Korea, you better bet he would have been DQ'ed. 4 out of the 6 in the 1500m could have won it. Li pushed on Ohno in the 1000m, Ohno shruged him off , but it doesnt matter that 16 year old Korean was falling in the turn, he would have fell without Li shoving. I mean he fell doing the exact same thing in the 1500m semi's fell with NO ONE TOUCHING him, he lost the edge of his skates both times. Kim has won the 2001-2002 world cup, but he has fallen twice in this olympics, both WERE HIS FAULT(5000m relay semi's and 1000m semi's), obviously he has been struggling this olympics.

I don't dispute that the block was illegal, but a flop is a flop.

I think not, Im sure the judges saw it without the "flop" as some call it. They watch the race from different angles. Flop or no flop, it was still illegal and should have been called.

Cross-tracking is not applied in this case because Ohno didn't have enough passing speed.

Hmm... interesting clips. First time I saw that different angled one. Even though I don't really care about the outcome, I can't but help feel sorry for the korean though. Everyone says he cross-tracked - but if you think about it, where else could he go? He had a turn coming up, he was in front. Was he just supposed to take an outer lane? It doesn't make sense... I think the judging is mostly subjective as well - it has to be. It is someone's opinion against another as to whether he cut ohno off, or if he was simply making a turn. Either way, you've gotta admit that the crowd influenced somewhat.

Maybe sub-consciously he cut Ohno off, maybe Ohno found out he left his run too late and put on a show, etc... Pretty impressive by the Korean though I say. Wasn't he leading most of the race? Wind resistance and all, good on him for staying that long out in front.

well if you don't stay in your track then no one can ever pass thats the rule believe it or not, and yes you can take a turn on an outer track

just watched the clip closely for the first time, and I gotta agree with the call as I understand the rules.

You see apollo take some huge strides and pull right up on Kim until kim steps over in front of him. Looks like ohno could have been by him in 4 strides if not blocked. Ohno's hands in the air looks more like he's trying not to hit Kim than him putting on a show.

I want my canadian hockey team to whoop USA's ass sunday, but this one looked like a fair call to me.

First its not the US . Its the governing bodies. The US has no control over the IOC doping policies(Belaruse's, and Russia's complaints). The US doesn't have control over the ISU which governs the skating events. Figure skating and ice dancing have a long history of being fixed. Russia is upset its medal count isnt as high as it was when it was the USSR. South Korea is upset its male speed skaters arent winning, mainly due to falling. The fact of the matter is the only people complaining about the olympics are made because they arent doing like they feel they should. Europe isnt complaining. Its just Russia(saying everything is fixed), South Korea(speed skating) and Canada(hockey and figure skating). Belarus has no complaint, it broke the rules BIG TIME. Lithuania has just as much of a complaint as the US does(ie: none). China has no real complaint either.

Europe isnt complaining, so no not all other countries "do not like america". There are a select few that are whining, and they are mainly former communist states...

Good gawd, it's simple physics. If you WATCH the video, Ohno put on a sudden burst of speed, and was starting to pass Kim when Kim moved over abruptly and blocked him. Had he not blocked him, Ohno would have passed him. It's that simple. I'm sorry you feel some need to deny this very obvious fact.
