What a bunch of babies! Spewing anti-american trash on AT. It's disgusting.

It's freaking clear as day from the videos that the Ohno had the momentum and was going to pass Kim, until he got in the way.

To all:

You Americans (except some concious Americans) need to learn the concept of "living together."
That means honoring each other, not honoring America only.
You are the host country in this olympic games, and all others are guests. But you have been treating them poorly by excessive use of home-ground advantage.
You guys should know why all other countries don't like America.
It's neither you are the most powerful country, nor the wealthiest country.
You always cry out "JUSTICE" but it is the JUSTICE OF Americans only, BY Americans only, and FOR Americans only.
This makes all other countries sick. And this is why.
It will evantually damage relationship between you and all other countries.
You will not want this and so will they.

Show your leadership and generosity to them!
Be a big country!

WTF is this all about? Did not most, if not all of the US sympathize with the Canadian figure skaters? Good gawd, you've got issues. You've been proven wrong, so you go on some anti-America rant???

Home ground advantage??? HOW??? The judges are international, as is the IOC. How the F are we being unfair? Please detail this, with evidence, or quit whining.

Some people think they come off as intelligent by vomiting up some anti-american sh*t that has no merit.
They have the nerve to imply America is too proud? It's their own pride that feeds their lamea$$ jealousy...

Where did this little Anti-American gem come from? WATCH THE VIDEO PLEASE!!!!!!
The original poster was gracious enough to dig up 4 or 5 videos, one of which CLEARLY shows the infraction. It is plain damn obvious when you watch it, I don't know how it can be viewed any other way.

Second off, America did not run these Olympics. We hosted the event and the IOC and ISU ran the events and did the judging, both of which are international bodies with international judging. Drop this friggin' America is exploiting some type of illegal advantage bull-sh*t. This thread should be dead by now, geesh.

Also, we cried out for Justice for the Canadian figure skaters. Last time I checked, yes indeed, they were Canadian, not American. Unless of course you are defining their nationality by the continent they live on.

<< i'm pretty sure if the situation was switched, if Ohno got DQ and Kim won, americans fans would've done the same if not worth **I assume you meant worst**. >>

No, Americans would not have purposely crashed the Olympic webserver and then sent 16,000 death threats to the Korean skater. We aren't that fanatical about short track speed skating. If we were you would have heard about it after the Korean hauled down Ohno in the previous skating event. Did anything happen from that... no.

watch the clip above , Korean did take down Ohno but before that , look close who took down korean.
I don't know the name so ...
1st Ohno 2nd US skater 3rd Korean skater
final turn, 2nd us skater goes outside trying to pass Ohno
They are side by side
3rd korean skater goes right behind Ohno
2nd us skater bumps into Ohno and moves back and falls
Look at his left hand.
As he falls, he's left hand hits Korean skater's skate.
the skate jurks
Korean skater looses his blance, thus he falls.

now If 2nd US skater didn't clip korean's skate
Ohno wins Gold, korean wins silver , who robbed who?

anyways, your only digging your own grave. based on the assumption that china robbed the us of the medal we still reacted far better then korea. death threats?

<< The Kim's struggling during 2000-20001 was due to severe injury caused by Li Jiajun in 1999 Worldcup Game. And he could not skate for several months. >>

Perhaps Ohno's struggling in the last race was due to the 16 stitch gash in his leg caused by being pulled down by the Korean in the FIRST RACE.

Personally, I think we should go easy on the Koreans. Maybe even give them the medal. As far as I can tell, they're a little tiny country with little hope of excelling in any sports. The only sport they have a prayer to win was the speed skating. If they miss these medals, they don't have bobsledding, hockey, figure skating, skeleton, snowboarding, or alpine skiing to make up for it.

Think about it. How would you feel if your country couldn't do all these things well?

Maybe we should introduce speed skating in the summer olympics so the Koreans don't get discouraged by basketball, long jump, or decathalon.

I'm just sick of this piss poor attitude by these Korean posters trying to blame their loss on everyone else.

My god, the piss poor sportsmanship by Koreans is sad

If you have a problem with the call in the short track why not be Anti-Australian? An Aussie ref made the call. Why not be Anti-IOC?
These aren't Americans making these calls.... IF the bias was there for America WHY NO CALL when the whole field went down allowing the Aussie to medal? Ohno, the favourite in that race, was pulled down... seems like a perfect opportunity to slip in some Pro-America bias calls eh?

Oh, and I guess Americans cant even fix the Olympics right huh? Germany leads the US in the overall medal count, Sweden is tied in the Gold count. I guess these countries came about thier medals fairly and the American medals are the result of bias?

Give me a break.

I can only HOPE that the Koreans flooding the internet with thier whining do NOT represent the average person in that country.

Screw it! Let's give the Republic of Korea its gold medal AND let's pull all of our tropps out of their country. Then, let's pop a big bag of popcorn and watch some real games........ as hundreds of thousands of North Koreans pour over the less guarded DMZ and easily consume the South. Let's see we could watch games such as the:
100, 200, 300, 400m human skeet shoot
The always fun to watch Biathalon where the koreans run 800m in snow shoes and then take target practice
How about the 20K nuke bomb lob?
Or the scud missle lob. Great entertainment as when you lob these puppies, you just never know where they're gonna land.
Oooooo, the frog missle lob! Now there's one for the sport of precision
And the grand prize, elite sport............The country leaders assasination contest!

Let's do the world some good, stop meddling in all of it's business, help unite Korea again and watch some real games!

Hey man.. You Americans did try that already. It was fifty-two years ago just before the Korean War. At least that was the argument of my paper any ways. No harsh talks, please. You're only turning yourself into one of them.

I can see where you're coming from and some of these anti-American comments are absolutely absurd, rude, and illogical, but ..
1) It was only a couple of days since this whole thing erupted - people tend to take some "time" before they begin to accept alternate points of view.
2) There is a cultural clash - the European/North American logic may not necessarily make sense to Koreans.
3) Koreans likely obtained much of their understanding of this whole thing from the Korean media. It's pretty tough to grasp the alternate point of view when there is a language barrier. Also, this "alternate" point of view is considered the "American" point of view by the Korean media, so a lot of Koreans simply dismiss it.

In my opinion, Kim put himself into this whole mess mainly because he was pressured to get a gold. How tragic..

Koreans: You gotta admit it. If Kim won a silver, then the Korean media will likely come up with some BS articles like "What happened to our champion?" rather than cheering him for a silver. So it is pretty obvious to me that whether Kim did break the rules or not, the Korean skating team (or the entire Olympic team) did have a motivation (other than sudden outburst of "anger") to begin this whole mess and shift the media attention to this whole mess.

P.S. "Other guys did it too" is not an excuse to break a rule. Let's accept it and move on. Play the game in a clean manner and let's stop labeling silver-medalists as "losers".

My 2 cents.

Oh btw, this thread was created because of my curiosity of how this whole thing erupted. I wanted to see some evidence and different points of view before I drew my own conclusion.

It was not intended to create anti-American, anti-Korean, or any other discriminatory comments.

It was merely a sports event! Let's stop turning this political.

My point was that immediately, the U.S. hears all of this Anti-American dribble. All these countries denounce the U.S. and say we are the root of all evil. They never, ever realize that U.S. blood, sweat and tears have been shed so that they have that freedom to spout their Anti-American dribble.

Something my mother taught me....... "Don't bitch about the farmers while you have food in your mouth."

Same thing is true here. The Americans didn't ref this event. The Americans didn't make this ruling. The Americans have taken everything in stride. But these other countries always spout off about how terrible Americans are even when he have fought for their freedoms and keep handing out money like it's an allowance to a kid.

Interesting it sounds, but American Gov. won't pull out U.S troops, due to pollitical, and economical reasons. U.S troops are in Korea, because they have quite large amounts benefits. Also, Korean air force is about to purchase several fighters, and they were going for LaFal, and Mr. Bush is coming to Korea to push Korean Gov. to buy F15. (S. Korea holds one of the largest weapon market for U.S.)
That being said, do you think Korean Army put troops here in East Timor just for the Peace keeping operation?

(BTW, I do understand your joke)

P.S : For those whom thinking U.S Gov has done so much favor to weak countries in the name of God, and justice.
If you recall East Timor crises, please do note that U.S Gov. sold 97% of weapons which were used killing East Timor people(While the Indonesian's invading was in progress).
You may also ask why Austrian is on East Timor's side.

Since I?m stationed in East Timor for a Peace Keeping Operation, I didn?t get to see what happened. I read about it on Korean forums, and here.
As you can guess, Koreans do have different views than you people do. One thing common is the ?Nationalism?.
Americans are very emotional when it comes down to nationalism in these days (No wonder). Also Koreans do have rather crazy nationalism (Throughout history, Korea has had more of ?Terrorism? issues than what happened in America recently).
Olympics isn?t just a sports as one said. There?s a lot more than that (You could even ask Hitler who knew it very well, and took advantage of it). It gets very ugly when a sports is mixed with Nationalism. Think about that Columbian Football player who got shot, and what?s been happening in European football league.

Even before this incident, Korean Skating team also had an issue with a Chinese skater as he intentionally GRABBED two of Korean skaters as he fell. What you guys call ?Koreans? Whining? started since then (It was, indeed the Chinese skater?s fault). People were upset that Korean Olympics team didn?t even remonstrance it. Then, this incident with Ohno came on.

This thread has already lost its subject, and I?m sure I?ll be another thread getting us nowhere.

I beg to differ. I am yet to find another state/nation with a more peaceful history than Korea had.

- 2nd century BCE: Han dynasty established a few military posts along the Yalu River area.
- 7th century: Tang dynasty of China allied with one of the "three kingdoms" in Korea (Silla) to invade and annex the other two kingdoms. This was when Korea (if you consider Koguryo as a Korean state) lost much of its Manchurian territory.
(pretty darn peaceful for a few centuries)
- 10th/11th centuries: A few Khitan invasions, but not a large scale invasion.
- 13th century: Mongol invasion and their intervention in the Koryo government.
- 1592~1598: Japanese invasion - one of the first large-scale invasions Koreans experienced
- late 19th century: tensions with Western powers and Japan, but no massive invasions
- 20th century: Japanese colonization and the Korean War

Did Korea face any form of "terrorist" attacks until the latter half of the 20th century? No. Terrorism requires modern weaponry.

Koreans never faced a plane crashing into their buildings, but it was only recently (just like America) that they faced terrorist attacks. And it is definitely rare compared to what many other nations face (i.e. France, Israel).

I agree that the Chinese skater should've been DQ'ed. I saw the footages and it was pretty darn obvious that he wasn't a very fair skater. But then the case of An Hyun-soo looked like he fell because he kinda "slipped", not because the Chinese guy pushed him.
