Seriously, order a pair of KSC75s, they're dirt cheap and the SQ is up there with ~$80 cans
Yup. This is the sort of BS I'm talking about.

I've owned Grado SR225s ($200 cans), Sennheiser HD555s, AKG K81DJs, and as a general use headphone I prefer the KSC75 over them all. However, I listen to the AKG K81DJs for my trance/electronica and liked the SR225s for rock (simply amazing, the sound is so real). But the KSC75s are such an incredible bargain at $12 or so that there's no reason not to own them. 95% of the folks at head-fi (most with $2000+ headphone setups) will back up this claim

another head-fi'er here. no one said they're audiophile quality. simply put, the ksc (75, 35) are absolutely the best bang for the buck.

fwiw, i've owned (or still own) just about all of the top end headphones.

Mine came the other day. Frankly, they sound like s**t to me, but considering the "ear buds" that came with my iPod KILL me ears, these will do for mowing and such.

Actually, I have a pair of RS noise cancelling headphones. They work pretty good for mowing also.

Sorry, but someone needs to tell it as it is.

BTW I suggest these or these.
I hope you're right. I just bought the Creative Labs b/c of the different plug sizes...

I got mine the other day. They sound great. They fit great in my ear and are very comfy. Awesome deal for under $9.

I got them today, with clear tape and one hole poked, bass is good for some songs, a tad deep for others. No holes would work for everything but rap, I'd think. Noise isolation is amazingly good.

Edit: with one hole, if I do not put them completely in, the bass is just right in "Dream On" by Aerosmith.

Got mine today. Main first impression is that they're muddy and lacking in midrange. Better than the crap that usually comes with mp3 players at least.. Glad I got in before the price went up - they were worth it for $8 shipped I think, but not much more...will keep for emergencies.

If you actually care about sound quality, why would you even consider recommending Sony or Creative Labs? The only Sony headphones that can be recommended are in the super-expensive range anyway.

well he's not wrong, from what i remember the creative labs are based on shure hardware? but priced cheaper than their equivalent. though from what i've heard the ex51 isn't very good, better go with the ex81's if you wanna go sony, plus they look nicer.

mini review

definitely bass heavy & muddy cause of it. with the tape mod, its okay. One of the most annoying thing about the headphones is the cord. its sticky rubber. which causes it to 'stick', not literally like tape but more like it doesn't glide smoothly over your clothes/skin which will rip them out of your ear as you move. The other annoying problem, I have had one headphone be louder than the other at times. I don't know why, it comes and goes.

besides that they are worth 8 bucks. If you really want some good light headphones, try the Senn PX100 or koss Protopros.

I just picked up a pair on amazon marketplace for like 10 shipped. I just got a refurb shuffle but the apple earbuds will not stay in my ear. not a audio nut just want something that will stay in my ear and play rock while I lift. Ill post my thoughts on how the Rocky 3 and Rocky 4 soundtrack does on them when they come...

ex81's have ear clips. course theres a cost, but with better sound quality. i don't see the point of all the canal phones for portables, too much sealing out the noise of the world in public is semi dangerous it would seem. maybe i'm paranoid.

really? while I agree it maybe dangerous to ride a bike with IEM plugged in, I dont see much need for isolation for non-portable use, contrary to your belief.

my very real daily to frequent uses include
1) listening on a public transportation (bus, trains, subways) ; too much noise to be able to listen to anything at all without causing some permanent damage to your hearing level unless you go with some IEMs.
2) library trips or walking to a class : sure, full-sized closed cans could work too, but I would hate to lug a behemoth when I am only walking to the library and dont feel like carrying anything. Walking around with a DT770 or CD3000 on isnt what I would normally want to do. HD25 would be ok, but too expensive compared to lower tier IEMs.
3) Jogging on a treadmill or a trail : general rule of the tumb here is, of course, the lesser weight you put on the better it is. full-sized closed cans are too heavy. non-sealing earbuds tend to slip out very easily, at least every single model I have tried so far.

I cant imagine how full-sized closed cans could be remotely any more useful than IEMS, except for professional envirionments totally exclusive to common folk.

Yup. This is the sort of BS I'm talking about.

No I dont think you know what you're talking about. I would take my Koss KSC35s over my Sony MDR-V6s anyday.
KSC35/75s are exceptional and can rival anything under $100.00 unamped.

I would too. But up against my MDR-V7s (not 700), well that's another matter.

Aye. My V6s are my gaming cans (and great ones at that).
But its yet another matter comparing the V7s vs my Beyer DT990s

The tape trick does work a bit... seems to muffle sound though. These earphones work great to block outside sound. On a Creative Labs Muvo with the volume up a single notch makes them loud enough.

 Great for helping ignore people.
