Kubicki's Hormone Replacement Therapy
Kristopher Kubicki, Editor in Chief of gossip rag Daily Tech, is about to experience hormone replacement therapy, according to rumors out of nowhere. Usually, I wouldn't give credence to this kind of talk, but Kubicki has proved himself a master of the untruth, and the gods of innuendo want to have a chat with his soul.
Of course, for veracity's sake, I should probably point out an example of the egregious nature of Kubicki's style of gutter journalism. One of his minions wrote the following in a "news" post on February 4, 2006:
For those of you who didn't see this coming, David Strom, the Editor and Chief of Tomshardware.com, has stepped down after one year of service with the company.
And, the following:
A quick look on the TGP about page also reveals that Tom Pabst has stepped down as CEO of the company, and has been replaced by Omid Rahmat.
Pointless stuff, in the big scheme of things, but clearly designed to imply some level of confusion about the business of TGP. I contacted the original author through the site, and pointed out that on every point the story was wrong, and that a simple email, or follow up, with anyone at the company, could have saved the author from making such abysmal mistakes.
Kubicki, obviously not wanting to do anything that would hurt the quest for untruth, did not retract the story, and merely avoided addressing the fact that the story was completely false by doing nothing. Not surprisingly, it proved to be one of Daily Tech's top stories for a number of days. Not surprisingly because, Daily Tech is the news arm of Anandtech, home of the Anand Fanbooeys, a group that is so vehemently anti-Tom's that it would actually eat its own young if it could blame it on Thomas Pabst personally, or an article that has appeared on any of the pages associated with Tom's Hardware Guide.
Kubicki goes out of his way to claim that he has nothing to do with Anandtech and that his company is completely separate to Anandtech, but it does produce the news for Anandtech, the article in question appearing prominently on Anandtech's front page on the day in question, and that it is well known in industry circles that Anand is directly, or indirectly through his marketing agent, benefiting financially from Daily Tech.
But, let's not dwell on the supporting cast, let's get the crux of the matter here: I found a silver lining to this cloud of claptrap. The fanbooey is alive and well, and living in odious bliss on Anandtech love. And why not. AMD does not cater to the fanbooeys any longer. It realized that it needed to raise its game, and it is now reaping the benefit in so many ways because, it is corporate and enterprise. Where were these purveyors of bile and venom to go?
Who can they hate? Who can they vilify? Now we know. I thought, sadly, I had lost them, but now that I have found them again, I welcome the opportunity to ridicule them.
Of course - read this next bit carefully, fanbooey - I DO NOT think that everyone who reads Anandtech is a fanbooey. I never thought that everyone who bought AMD was a fanbooey, but that won't matter because, fanbooeys don't care about facts, or truth, or anything that gets in the way of their loathing, or anger, or desire to appear to be in with the crowd.
They're like gang members who'll mug an old lady to be initiated and just to be accepted. So, what can one do to rid the Web of these pesky partisans?
Are you kidding?! Who wants to get rid of them. They're sport, and I was getting bored so, I thank the hormonally challenged Kubicki, and I thank the anti-Tom mentality that pervades Anand because, now we might have ourselves some fun.
Oh, yeah, here's why: I get so sick and tired of arrogant self-promoters claiming that they are there for the sake of the community and are one of the guys when, in fact, they are mercenary, and prone to twist the truth, or just avoid it completely, at the service of Mammon. To find that the self-important, holier than thou fanbooeys are the angry hypocrites that I always thought they were is vindication. Abandoned by AMD, abandoned by almost everyone, their last hurrah is gossip, rumor, and now, Tom hating.
Nice to have you back, fanbooeys. Nice to have you back.
