went to local bikeshop where got bike and lock, they hadn't heard about it...good job kryptonite telling people..*sigh*

or maybe it was just the guy working the frontend.

a similar technique can be used to open kensington laptop locks, even the newest ones. People can do it with scissors and a paper clip in less than a minute

I have a Kensington laptop lock and an APC Kryptonite laptop lock.
I could not get the Kensington to unlock. The APC however took all of 2 seconds to open.

Does your Kensington have a bunch of grooves in the center lock that looks like this
picture?

I think the free upgrades are only available to those purchases of certain types of Kryptonites since Sept 2002. They will require proof via key registration, or signing up for their protection plan.. or a receipt.

Everyone else, they will offer "substantial rebates", whatever that means.

hehe, reminds me of college the police patrol bikes used to get locked up by a long chain that went through the rim of each tire and wrapped around the frame, some wiseacre took the seats off 3 of them one day outside the reck center.
