KT333 chipset...bad or good?

Hmm.................Nforce2 is much better than KT333 and certainly better than KT400. I'd say if cost is a huge factor then go with KT333 or Kt400. Nforce2 is pricey right now.

I think I've spotted some nforce 2 boards in the 119$ US range (dunno if you guys class that as expensive or not?)
(I guess it would be vs say an ECS K7S5A which is great bang for the buck, however I feel 119$ isn't shabby - specially vs Intel priced boards)

119$ translates to prolly 250$ after shipping and money xfer costs, at 250$ for a classy sound card, dual channel ddr - official 333 FSB support, faster than KT333 due to the whole DASP thing (or whatever they are using to speed it up) it's not too shabby.

Dunno about the stability of the nforce 2, but I've heard no bad reports yet.

I like the KT333, having opted for one myself, but you cannot go wrong with a reasonably priced NForce2 board since the latter will be the defacto standard in the near future.

I can't pretend to have read the other posts (because I havn't) as there's only so much VIA bashing I can take...

1) I've built and maintained a number of PCs based on a variety of KT133 variants. I have had no problems. [Anti-Flame disclaimer] I'm not saying that probs don't exist, just that I've had none personally[/Anti-Flame disclaimer]

2) I'm currently using an Abit KX7-333 RAID which I've been very happy with. It's fast and stable and I've had no issues yet.

I would caution anybody interested in the Nforce 2 boards that they really haven't come into widespread use quite yet, and that problems don't always surface right away. Not to say that there will be any at all, but I usually let other people find out about that stuff for me.

I figured that one out many years ago when my brother let his wife talk him into buying the first year model of a Ford Taurus Station Wagon. They went thru 73 recalls......
